Those are some nice looking shoes for a pair of "budget shoes" as you describe them. They look like Timberlands that were fashionable a couple decades ago and also like steel-toe work boots that everyone who works manual labor jobs in western countries are no doubt familiar with.

I still use steel-toe safety boots when I visit certain projects. If I use them in urban area, it gets me into many problem, for example metal detector that people need to get through from building entrances.

I never use Timberlands but I know that shoes. During the hype, the shoes went above $200. Nowadays maybe only around $100-125.

I had a red wing safety shoes before, I gave it to one of my client's staff when he resigned. He wanted to show off in his new office by having that shoes. That time I still worked in oil industry, so I could afford it easily.
