This is my post for #freewriters 2656 prompt vigorous shake hosted by @mariannewest
My husband told me he saw a Ford Ranger on Marketplace, I have been looking for a small truck since the Beast has a cracked frame and is no longer safe to drive.
I think I can get 5K for the Beast even with the cracked frame, but my husband wants me to sell it for 2,500 because it is costing us 40 dollars extra a month for the insurance. Someone would be buying it for the engine, it is a 1997 Ford diesel with 153K miles, and it has a 7.3 power stroke motor in it.
As soon as my husband told me about the Ford Ranger I sent the man a message and told him I wanted to see it first thing in the morning, we set a time and in the morning went to look at it. He showed me a list of people who wanted to look at it if I did not get it.
We looked it over and drove it. We told them we would take it. The only real damage was a rusted out place inside the driver's side door. The old man who owned it used it to go pompano fishing over at the beach, which explained the rusted out area on his side.
We should have looked better because the rusted out hole went further than we thought. If I go through mud puddles, water will pour in, it goes back under the floormat.
The more my husband dug at it, the bigger the hole got.
This is what fell off with him pulling on it.
He ordered something to paint over the rust, it stops it from spreading, I forget the name of it. After we get that he will screw a piece of flashing to the floor and then he is talking about fiberglassing over that, but I think he backed off of that because of the price of resin.
I went yard saling with my sister and when I came back, my husband gave me a vigorous shake of his head and said "I already hate your new truck. I told him that doesn't surprise me, but why? He said he got to the cable on the spare tire lock but could not get cut through it
Before I left, we were trying to get the spare tire down but when we put the handle into it, all it did was spin like it is stripped out.
