I don't use baking soda for this purpose.
I've found this recipe for baked beans and tried it a few times.
It helps for little or no gas, as I noticed.
Soak white beans in lukewarm water overnight.
The next day, drain the beans, and boil them in a saucepan in 3 liters of cold (doesn't matter) water for about 1 hour.
In the meantime, preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius.
Keep 1 liter of the boiled water, and throw the rest away.
Drain the beans again, and put them in a pyrex.
Make a tomato sauce with onions and spices by simmering it in a saucepan for 10 minutes.
Put the sauce in the pyrex with the beans.
Also add the 1 liter of water that you have kept.
Add salt and oil, mix all the ingredients in the pyrex, and put it in the preheated oven to cook for 1 hour.
Stir from time time.
It's ready.
