There is a special magic that runs through the streets of Punta de Mata when Carnival arrives.

The sound of steel, the sparkle of sequins, wet clothes, but above all, a town that knows how to enjoy itself and feel proud of its roots.

Here in Venezuela, celebration is a tradition, and here in our municipality of Ezequiel Zamora, the creativity of the artisans is sometimes overflowing, fueled by the energy of the comparsas and these events called bacchanals, which inspire us to create and believe in the extraordinary.

Celebrating our cultural identity is honoring our identity. These carnivals are not just colorful parades, but a reminder of the joy that unites us.

I would like to mention that here in Punta de Mate, one of the epicenters of color in eastern Venezuela.

I can emphasize my testimony to the resilience and joy we experience when we live this tradition with a unique intensity, where each costume and float reflects the ingenuity of the people and the happiness that can be brought to people with some music and a tank of water.

There are other places, such as the city of Maturín, where they say that the carnivals there compete with the carnivals here in the village, and it is somewhat iconic that this small village can compete in quality and creativity with the state capital. We know that there are entire families who spend months cooking their costumes and welding float structures, and this speaks volumes about teamwork. The traditional music is eucalyptus and soup, which, although from the south, have a huge influence on this season here in the country.

The photographs I am presenting were taken from my cell phone yesterday when I arrived from Maturín to the town, as I have been traveling constantly taking care of my mother's health, which has been a little delicate and unstable lately, but here we continue to fight, believing that everything is possible and that we will get out of these bad situations.

Seeing the joy in the streets of young people playing carnival, throwing water at each other while dancing to this lively music, sometimes distracts you a little from those problems and makes you see life with a little more calm and a little more joy. I send my warmest regards to all my friends who are part of the entire community and especially this guest author project.
