Back on the Street Again

Life often gives us shocks. Here I am, back on the streets. This time, I'm not out to find a place for my business, but I need to find a new house for my family, fast. The familiar weight of uncertainty sits heavy on my shoulders.

For over 15 years, my life has been a constant carousel of relocations. Back then, when it was job-related, there was an adventurous charm to it all. But even those moves came with their sacrifices. Each relocation meant rebuilding our lives from scratch - a challenging process I've navigated more than five times in the past decade and a half.

The toll of frequent moves runs deeper than most realize. You bid farewell to cherished friendships, especially when crossing city lines. Your children's education faces disruption as they adapt to new schools in unfamiliar environments. Beyond the emotional cost, it's a progress killer - businesses suffer, and the financial burden of relocation drains your resources.

This time was supposed to be different. I had planned to stay put for at least 5-7 years, giving me time to complete my building project and finally settle down. With no organization to transfer me anymore, moving had become a distant thought, safely tucked away in my mental archives.

But fate had other plans. Three months ago, our peaceful existence was shattered when strangers appeared at our compound. Without warning or introduction, they began inspecting the property. When I confronted them, their response hit like a thunderbolt - they were the new owners. Our home had been sold without our knowledge.

Initially, they mentioned renovation plans but allowed us to stay until further notice since our rent had three months remaining. That was in May. Fast forward to just days ago, the new owner dropped another bombshell - renovations begin in September, right after our lease expires in August. This blindsided us completely, especially since the house agent had repeatedly assured us about renewal possibilities.

The current rental market is a nightmare. House agents are like sharks circling their prey. They demand office fees upfront, then bite off 10% of your total rent if they secure a property. But that's just the beginning of the financial horror story.

Rental prices have skyrocketed beyond reason. A two-bedroom flat that cost $150 last year now commands $350 - equivalent to 500,000 in local currency. That's double what I'm currently paying, an expense I wasn't prepared to shoulder.

This is our battle now - finding suitable housing and scraping together the funds before month's end. The agent route is financially out of reach, so I've become my own real estate hunter, searching morning and evening for that elusive vacant apartment.

Even in this storm, I cling to hope. Like all hard times I have met before, this too shall pass. Joy and ease will come back to my loved ones soon. Until we make our own home, we'll face this brief bump. Often, the hardest times in life turn into steps to better days.

The streets might pull me in again, but they won't hold me for good. This is just one more part now on our path to a stable and lasting home.

Thats crazy my man, hope u find a way to fix that asap. Thanks to the Blockchain for help us to write and drain our issues, sometimes thats a first step to muve on. Just Sometimes.

That is absolutely crazy!
I guess you could drag them to court if it had happened here. It's a clear violation on any rental agreement made. But that will take time and probably cost quite a lot money too.

Also, the rent is low. Insanely low. Here, you can get a single bedroom (essentially meaning just the living room), with bathroom and kitchen for about $800 a month. I think that is one of the cheapest options around here 😳
