The Home: The Child Foundation of Morality

The Bible instructs parents to bring up a child according in a good way, and even when he grows up he will not turn away from it. The basis that we build for our children has a major impact on what they later become and the things they will be exposed to. I must not let my efforts in raising my children down by failing to teach them the way they should go. The starting point is at home. The role of the home is to instill morality and manners in our children.
Unfortunately, many parents have failed in this area and thereby lead their children astray to live with quick sexual encounters. My experience in life has taught me that no matter how much you love your children, you must be prepared to deal with them when they disobey you. Some parents are unable to handle this situation and end up pushing their children into the arms of every stranger and bad company.
As much as possible, parents must refrain from giving in to some of these temptations and encourage their children to live a good life. To do that, there is a need for regular mentoring and the moral upbringing of children. If this is done right, it becomes an avenue for the children to know who to avoid in life, and therefore society can avoid crime and social ills that come from moral and sexual decadence.
The rate of immoral acts happening in society today, especially among teens, is alarming. And it is a matter that every sensible person must be concerned about. Everywhere you turn, it is one story after another about young girls and boys being involved in one immoral act or another, abusing drugs, engaging in illicit sex, and being involved in evil practices for the fulfillment of their personal aspirations. So we wonder in our minds, how do these children even learn such things?
I saw a video of the most horrible nature that was virally shared on different social media platforms. It showed a minor, a secondary school student, it seemed, engaging in a sexual act with an old woman as if they were shooting a movie. The parents of the young boy have failed to do their part in bringing up their son. It all begins at home, and the issue of parenting, especially teenagers, should not be taken for granted. It entails the necessity of being more cautious, researching more, and getting educated in the art of guiding them. If you cannot raise your children, especially your daughter, until she turns 23, you are a failed parent.
