I might fall asleep while writing. What a long day. The morning was easy, getting up, coffee, and then straight to the bakery – construction time! Together with my friend and landlord Mr. K we wanted to build a shelf unit to carry the cabinet that my brother had given me from his apartment that is about the be remodeled. Measuring, planning, buying wood – and sanding. A lot of sanding. I think I’m still full of sawdust.

We actually finished quite quickly. 3.30h between first thought and final screw. And since we had time left, we went for an extra board to make it all look better, sanded and cut that, too, and then I walked back as the only thing needed was to screw it in.

I learned a few technical terms today, like “crowned wood” and “brackets”. Mr. K is an excellent builder and has worked in restoring buildings for a long time, and he loves to work with mainly wood and dirt, aka adobe.

When we were finished, we had lunch in the back. I was happy to see that Daniel’s work is being appreciated by quite a few people being there for lunch. $4.50 for a gourmet style lunch is incredibly cheap, and the flavors? Way too impressive. 2 tables were friends of mine, to who I had recommended the place or invited them. Also great to see that they came back for more.

I finally got the police report, scanned it, sent it to the lawyer and went to the gym or a nice work out. While doing so, I had some good talks with my friend in Serbia – April 1st is his birthday. We were talking about the last year, the changes in us, and how much we appreciate each other. It was a good talk between the pumps, via voice messages, as always.

I also had another friend calling, just telling me how sorry he was that Lily had been taken by her mom again, and asking if he could do anything. No tips, no tricks, no “but you should…” just plain “that sucks, I’m here, let me know if I can do anything, even if it’s just having a coffee.” I appreciate that.

In the evening, I realized that I still had soaked chickpeas lying around. They were starting to sprout already, so I made a bunch of falafel to freeze, and an experimental dish to eat tomorrow. We’re going on a one-night-vacation, Ellie and I. Looking forward to that. But first – sleep.
Have a good night!
