Taking a walk at noon in late autumn is always a gamble. Either you get a dark grey mood board of “why do I live here again,” or you get what I had today: a cold, crisp 6km stroll where the light makes you forget your fingers are slowly dying.
I started with a low-angle shot of a mushroom because why not go full nature documentary on your lunch break. There’s something hilarious and grounding about kneeling in wet grass while commuters pass by wondering if you’ve lost your keys or your dignity. Spoiler: neither. I just like tiny things that look epic when you shoot them close enough.
The canal was doing its usual reflective magic. Sun bouncing off ripples, trees stretching like long shadows across the water. It’s the kind of scenery that looks peaceful even though you know a cyclist going 42km/h will appear out of nowhere the moment you let your guard down.
But here’s the thing I keep noticing: these walks aren’t just steps or photos. They’re resets. Micro-escapes. A reminder that you don’t need a mountain range to feel alive. Sometimes a flat Belgian canal under a stubborn November sun is enough.
