My Actifit Report Card: April 23 2025

I get frustrated at trying to listen to my body because I disconnected from my body a long time ago in order to prevent myself from feeling things I didn't want to feel. It was not something I did consciously, and I was young. I have since started reconnecting with my bodily sensations in numerous ways, but it takes deliberate work to rebuild the skill necessary to "hear" my body again. It is not as easy as it would be if I had not disconnected from things as a defensive coping mechanism.
The way I decided to put a stop to emotions I couldn't handle was to "disconnect the wires" in my body, so to speak
but you can't just reconnect them easily after they've were disconnected for years
I find that body scan meditations and yoga nidra actually help quite a bit, little by little. It's very slow progress but it's doable. Body scan meditation is great, and for me ever so randomly the reality "clicks" when doing yoga, the feeling of being truly present.

I have realized that the major disconnecting fact in my life is anxiety, and treating that, learning how to feel safe, has had a major effect.
