Hi, there! How are you? I hope that you are doing great. Welcome to my post. It's the actifit post number 1292. It's also the Alive and Thriving report on Monday, Aug 11, 2025
Even 3000 steps could be beneficial
Walking is a good form of exercise for all of us, with a metabolic disease such as hypertension, DM, lipid disorders, or without any disease. It's an acceptable recommendation that we should make 10,000 steps per day! What if we can't make 10k steps daily? No problem. Any step count is better than sitting idle!
A recent study showed that a daily step of 3000, with a faster pace, is quite beneficial for people living with hypertension! The researchers analysed data from the UK Biobank. The study population was 32,000 UK adults with hypertension! Besides the step count, they also considered the pace of walking. The data analysis showed that regular walking at a higher speed and making over 3000 steps were associated with a 17% reduction in risk of major cardiac events ( heart attack, heart failure, and stroke) in people with hypertension!
Another interesting association they found. For every extra 1000 steps, the participants benefited more. For example, the risk of heart failure was reduced by 22%, stroke by 24%, and heart attack by 9%!
Monday Diary
On Monday, I worked full-time. In the clinic, I consulted 17 patients in my chamber. Hence, it wasn't a busy day. I could work online from the office desktop!
At home, after lunch, I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes. It helped me make 10,356 steps on the day. These steps earned me 0.82 $SWEAT! I skipped the afternoon nap. However, I slept in the morning!
Okay. That's all for today. Alhamdulillah, I am alive, healthy, and thriving. How about you?
