Thankfully it was a slightly cooler day at the hatchery and I was able to sit in our air conditioned rail car exhibit for my morning shift - still mid-80s.

Just a short 2 miles earlier in the morning before work so it wasn't much of a workout but every mile counts these days.
In the afternoon Lulu and I headed up to Savoy in the canyon for a couple of relaxing miles hiking down to the base of Spearfish Falls.
Cooler higher in the hills but still warm, a nice breeze and shade from the pines made it much more comfortable for us.

The recent rains seem to have helped the water flow in the creek and thus the falls were beautiful even if they weren't at their fullest.

An additional highlight was when I came across some wild orchids growing right along the path - and petite Yellow Lady's Slipper nestled among the forest floor.
It's dainty little flower was the first time I've encountered one of these beauties in the wild.
