RE: Glenn Miller and The Army Air Force Band, for Three Tune Tuesday, Week 112 [Esp/Eng]

in Music2 years ago

Miller was not only very active with his Army Airforce Orchestra, he also died in December 1944 while flying from London to Paris for playing another concert. Its not clear what happened, but the airplane he was on went missing over the britsh channel and was never found.
I'm not really a swing fan, but some of his tunes I like as well. He will always remain a kind of legend, for his music but also because of his disappearing.

Hi @beatminister

Certainly, his disappearance was and remains a mystery. What I admire about him, in addition to his music, (and without taking ideologies into account), is his conviction in joining the army of his country, and his dedication to it. He was doing very well with his civilian band, he earned a lot of money, and yet he left it behind, enlisted in the army (after several attempts), to later form this wonderful band.

Thanks for stopping by to comment, I hope you have a happy day.
