I once resuscitated someone. Cracking ribs for 20 minutes. He was already old but he ended up in the hospital alive. He died there 5 days later but his loved ones were very happy that they could say goodbye to a warm body.
Yes, CPR is hope for life, as a healthcare profession we can give hope that we are here and we would save him. 80% cases not recover because nursing staff or attendant staff not informing to doctor on time because they can't early recognized. Second one is rib, so no matter how much rib you broke, when you unintentionally broking ribs during CPR and your R-R interval match and your PQRST wave complex becoming uniform so you can consider that your CPR is effective. Rib can be joint with help of chest belt but once the brain dead so we can't do in this case. In my 10 years of career I can't survive only 7 out of 597 cases.
Thanks for compliment.
And, yes, I know about the ribs. But if I think of it, that is what I remember. And also his gasping. But that clearly doesn't compair with what you are doing.
Yes, gasping is one of the symptoms for imbalance of hormones, difficulties in breathing, 1,2 ,3rd degree or Complete heart block , metabolic or respiratory acidosis and many and more problems. Early recognition is eye, hand and effective GCS from at the time of admission also Early warning sign is also important.
I have had my first aid diploma for more than 20 years, and every year, we learn about it. It was some how amazing to have done it, but I also hope that was the last time.
