They say butterflies are a symbol of joy and happiness, like, "I'm soaring through the sky like a butterfly with joy."
On New Year's Eve, everyone's happy, except the butterflies. Where have you seen butterflies soaring above snowdrifts on days when the thermometer drops into the uncharted depths of a glass bulb?
Here, we probably need to find a different comparison, so as not to offend the butterflies, who don't know New Year's as a holiday. :)
