A friend in need is a friend indeed and rightly so. This is one major factor why we need not just friends but genuine friends, once with good heads and good hearts.
I came to understand the true meaning of friendship when I first got into school. School life was tough but I made some pretty neat friends who were like a cushion to me, helping me through all my difficult times. I am truly grateful to have met and become friends with them.
*I wish I could start by saying that I began my friendship journey in a dramatic way but it wasn't so as there was no drama involved in the matter. It began with a simple “hello, can I join you in studying that handout?”.

Myself and Lizzy
Yep, that was me asking a pretty lady I had met reading beside Moremi hall. I got to know her name as Elizabeth. She was a kind soul, a clinger and a very honest person.
Lizzy, like I fondly called her, was a Yoruba babe through and through. Her memento was “I no dey hear English” and she usually says that to me whenever I go into “English mode” while we studied our notes. That slang of hers would instantly cause me to laugh out loud.
I never had to worry about handouts except the compulsory ones because Lizzy was always buying and photocopying some for me. We were almost inseparable and that was because, she was keeping the communication bridge alive without expecting in return.
I wasn't a good communicator back then but I made up for that flaw by sponsoring most of our meals and that was how we navigated our way through school without feeling much of the brunt of school life. As time progressed, our dual circle increased to four as two more girls became friends with us and this too was through study time at the library.

Chika, Ada and me
From Lizzy, I gained Ada and Chika and I also gained a free hair stylist and a free fashionista. These three girls made school life fun and memorable despite our little squabbles and jealous streaks especially when one of us gets more compliments from boys, hehe.
After many years of leaving school, the only person I'm in touch with till date is still Elizabeth and just like when we were in school, she's still the one fueling the communication bridge more than me. Sometimes, she calls to introduce me to some money making gig. Our friendship is one that has lasted across time and I hope that it doesn't end till we both grow old.
Thanks for reading.
