Pulled off two walks today. Nothing heroic. Just the routine split in two because recovery apparently prefers installments.
The canal was pure gray mood. The drawbridge in the first shot was lifted halfway, steel arms frozen mid move. Slow. Mechanical. Necessary. Annoyingly symbolic. Progress does not rush just because you feel impatient.
The longer stretch ran along that endless canal line, bare trees standing there like they have seen this before. No leaves. No drama. Just structure. Winter is honest like that. No decoration, just framework. Rehab feels similar.
Somewhere along the curve a skater rolled through my frame, balanced and smooth. Meanwhile I am counting steps like they owe me rent. Still, 11 kilometers total. 13.5k steps. Stacked without theatrics.
In between, I walked to the doctor for a checkup. Same pace, slightly heavier thoughts. Then the sentence landed: recovery is going well. Not fast, but steady.
Not fast, but steady.
The photos match that energy. Muted reflections. Fog softening the distance. You can see the bend in the canal, just not the whole road ahead. Which is fine. I am not chasing the horizon right now. I am just showing up for the next stretch.
Two walks. Solid distance. Medical thumbs up.
If the bridge can take its time going up, I can take my time getting back to full speed. Still waiting on those hydraulic leg upgrades though.
