I have to admit that up until now it's been a while since I've had hot chocolate. When it's typically offered it's from a pre-made packet mix of some sort, so I usually pass on it. This time around I didn't when I found out my sister-in-law made it, and I'm glad I tried it. While this hot chocolate was for kids, there were extra goodies for the adults.
The mixture itself was homemade. It used a lot of semi-sweet Ghirardelli chocolate in it, along with lots of cream. This was hot chocolate done the right way.
Next to the hot chocolate were LOTS of mix-ins for everyone: marshmallows and peppermint or cherry candy canes. Behind all of that was Bailey's, a cinnamon cream mixture and Kahlúa.
There were several different flavored creamers to choose from as well.
The best out of all of them was the toffee flavored creamer.
We even had whipped chocolate topping to add.
To say this was the best chocolate bar of all time would be an understatement.
After dinner was over, I poured myself some hot chocolate, added some Kahlúa, some toffee creamer, and enjoyed helping my boys open some presents at their nana and papa's house.
Tomorrow, we celebrate at my parents' house along with my sister and brother-in-law. It's going to be a lot of fun and some great memories.
