Father's Day Fun

Hello friends and Hivians. It seems I keep finding myself away from Hive more and more. I tell you it's not by choice but rather an issue with having the time. One day, I'll get my swagger back! Anyways, yesterday (Sunday) was Father's Day and it gives me great pleasure to share some things I did.

The first task for the day was picking my son up from work. He works overnight and gets off at 7:00 a.m. On the way home he offered to buy McDonalds. I didn't break his wallet, oh gosh even fast food is expensive. I just got a sausage egg Mcmuffin. That by itself was over $5.00.

Once home, he called me into his room. I entered and he handed me a card (above picture). The small things are what counts and the free breakfast sandwich would have been enough. This wasn't all he had for me, he got me a really cool coffee mug. One that let a good smile and laugh from me. This Father's Day brought a first too. This was all bought by my son for the first time. You see, in the past, there was someone else who bought it and he would just be the one handing it to me. I don't know, it just had a bit of a different feeling for him to do both actions.

That card spoke and I bet many of my of friends don't have a clue what my son and I did the first part of the day 😆 A nap would have been good in the afternoon, but that never materialized. Well the activity we did first went from about 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. So what was it???

I know this may come as a shock, but we went fishing. We decided to do some panfishing because that was our best chance of catching the most fish. The action was really good the first 90 minutes as we caught about 40 fish between us. After that the bite fell off and we only caught a few.

It was getting hot and he was getting tired because he worked all night. We were competing who would catch the most fish overall, but some how we lost count. We did have fun being a little competitive. At one point, he asked if I wanted to use his magic pole, haha. I responded by throwing my lure near his saying the fish like mine more. It would have been nice to catch one when I did that, but it didnt happen. I will say it was close, might have evev been a tie. I think and after all, who taught him to fish? I basically was fishing against my younger version of myself, right?

Well we ended up keeping 13 fish, which mostly were crappies. I got home and ended up cleaning all the fish. This will make for a good little fish fry soon 😋 That's something I need to teach him more on, cleaning fish, haha.

I spent much of the afternoon watching the College World Series(CWS) baseball games on television. The live games are going on in Omaha right now, but way too hot outside, not to mention crazy traffic and the crazy amount of money for admission. It's much better to watch inside the comforts of the home. I'm surprised I didn't nap though.

The rest of the day I just relaxed until I had to pick up some odds and ends for the refrigerator (food stuff) at the local Wal-Mart. On the way there it was raining hard. I stayed in my car until the rain slowed. Witnessed a rainbow and was thinking what a good ending to a very good day. After I did my business shopping, it was already dark outside as I left. Got home, went to bed and slept like a baby.

Nothing too fancy and not a ton of activities planned. An enjoyable, very simple day! To me, it was a great Fathers Day and I wouldn't change anything about it. For the other fathers out there, I hope you enjoyed your day as well. If not a father, I hope you enjoyed the company of yours or had good thoughts about him.

That's all I have for you today. Busy work week ahead for me. Take care, stay safe and enjoy the week ahead. Until next time!

Wow! Sharing how you bad a good time with your son make me imagine how it will be to experience fatherhood, having my children celebrate😊. I really enjoyed reading through

Thanks it was one of those days where its good to be parent. Of course there are harder days but not this day. A day of appreciation from your kid is special.

Of course it can never be all rosy, but days like this can make us forget the pains of difficult days.

Awww, your son is sweet, making a little effort no natter how simple it is, it will always count. And you two fishing is such a great bonding ha. I hope you had a lot of fun, and your son too ✨💃💃

Tons of fun. Its good to let loose and have fun with your kid even when they get older. A great day of bonding indeed 😁

Awhh ! That's so sweet of Cole, and he went fishing with you after his night shift, must have made your day!

It did make my day and a sacfrice from him. He's usually in bed by 11:00 I think it was 2:00 before he made it there. He wants to do it again soon as he bought fishing license. Wants to do some fishing in the dark next time though for some catfishing.

Belated happy father's day, it's the small things that matter😁. Fishing is a great way to bond with your son😁

Thank you yes a small gesture is really all that is needed. A simple, "Happy Father's Day," I would have been happy. Fishing was fun together and he wants to do again but at night. He has Sunday nights and Tuesday nights off. I may have to take a day off.

I would also prefer a night fishing if I were him. That way I don't need to worry about getting sunburn.😌🥵

Haha not a bad idea to avoid the sun. Im getting pretty tan and dark lately because of the sun. But the night sky also offers a much cooler temperatures. Well a little anyways..

OMGG haha I love that mug & Happy Father's day😊 It sounds like you had some great time with your son. The moment you had right there, is definitely worth cherishing forever.

Glad you had a happy Father's Day! 13 Crappies is enough to make anyone happy. Wish I could share some mushrooms with you to go with them!

Hey I like that a good trade, haha. I have always wanted to get into mushroom hunting but everyone i know that does it doesn't want to give up there spots.

Hey, man! I was wondering where you were just a few days ago... Nice to see you doing well and nice to read that you had a fantastic Father's Day! Such a cool details by your son, and that mug fit you the best! 😃

Knowing you, I bet that fishing with your son was the highlight of the day! I didn't go fishing with my son, but I did with my dad, and we even got 2 carp... 😃 (as of my bad luck for the last couple of times, 2 was an awesome catch! 🤣)

not the best photo, but my mom was doing her best... 😃

I've been busy with work and real life. Yes a good mug and its already getting good use 🎣

Well glad you got out with family as well and broke the dry spell. The water is very clear and blue there that in itself gives some nice scenic water views. I zoomed in on photo defintely a fish, haha. I'm sure the catches boosted the confidence maybe next time even more 😎 🐟
