Hello friends and Hivians. It seems I keep finding myself away from Hive more and more. I tell you it's not by choice but rather an issue with having the time. One day, I'll get my swagger back! Anyways, yesterday (Sunday) was Father's Day and it gives me great pleasure to share some things I did.
The first task for the day was picking my son up from work. He works overnight and gets off at 7:00 a.m. On the way home he offered to buy McDonalds. I didn't break his wallet, oh gosh even fast food is expensive. I just got a sausage egg Mcmuffin. That by itself was over $5.00.
Once home, he called me into his room. I entered and he handed me a card (above picture). The small things are what counts and the free breakfast sandwich would have been enough. This wasn't all he had for me, he got me a really cool coffee mug. One that let a good smile and laugh from me. This Father's Day brought a first too. This was all bought by my son for the first time. You see, in the past, there was someone else who bought it and he would just be the one handing it to me. I don't know, it just had a bit of a different feeling for him to do both actions.
That card spoke and I bet many of my of friends don't have a clue what my son and I did the first part of the day 😆 A nap would have been good in the afternoon, but that never materialized. Well the activity we did first went from about 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. So what was it???
I know this may come as a shock, but we went fishing. We decided to do some panfishing because that was our best chance of catching the most fish. The action was really good the first 90 minutes as we caught about 40 fish between us. After that the bite fell off and we only caught a few.
It was getting hot and he was getting tired because he worked all night. We were competing who would catch the most fish overall, but some how we lost count. We did have fun being a little competitive. At one point, he asked if I wanted to use his magic pole, haha. I responded by throwing my lure near his saying the fish like mine more. It would have been nice to catch one when I did that, but it didnt happen. I will say it was close, might have evev been a tie. I think and after all, who taught him to fish? I basically was fishing against my younger version of myself, right?
Well we ended up keeping 13 fish, which mostly were crappies. I got home and ended up cleaning all the fish. This will make for a good little fish fry soon 😋 That's something I need to teach him more on, cleaning fish, haha.
I spent much of the afternoon watching the College World Series(CWS) baseball games on television. The live games are going on in Omaha right now, but way too hot outside, not to mention crazy traffic and the crazy amount of money for admission. It's much better to watch inside the comforts of the home. I'm surprised I didn't nap though.
The rest of the day I just relaxed until I had to pick up some odds and ends for the refrigerator (food stuff) at the local Wal-Mart. On the way there it was raining hard. I stayed in my car until the rain slowed. Witnessed a rainbow and was thinking what a good ending to a very good day. After I did my business shopping, it was already dark outside as I left. Got home, went to bed and slept like a baby.
Nothing too fancy and not a ton of activities planned. An enjoyable, very simple day! To me, it was a great Fathers Day and I wouldn't change anything about it. For the other fathers out there, I hope you enjoyed your day as well. If not a father, I hope you enjoyed the company of yours or had good thoughts about him.
That's all I have for you today. Busy work week ahead for me. Take care, stay safe and enjoy the week ahead. Until next time!
