Samara Weaving (Babysitter 2017) is back with another horror comedy. Ready or Not (2019) like her previous film blends horror, dark comedy and over the top violence. The movie is about a newly wed bride whose wedding night turns into a fight for survival just like Cole in Babysitter. This time she's the victim trying to survive.

The story is about Grace (Samara Weaving), a kind young girl who has just married into the wealthy Le Domas family. Her wedding night quickly becomes a nightmare when she learns about an unusual family tradition. Every new family member must participate in a randomly selected game after the wedding ceremony. Unfortunately for her, the card she draws is "Hide and Seek". It's a game that requires the family to hunt and kill her before dawn as part of an ancient contract with the devil that protects their wealth. As Grace tries to survive, she learns to fight back and turn the tables on her hunters.

I'm a fan of horror and comedy films. Most of the movies I reviewed have the same genre and theme. These movies are not seriously scary. They generally have absurd and funny plots but still suspenseful. In this movie, the Le Domas family members are both scary and laughably incompetent. The movie leads to scenes that mix over the top violence with dark humor. Samara Weaving is at home in this role as Grace. She transforms from a cheerful bride into a survivor driven by circumstance.

I recommend Ready or Not for its outstanding blend of horror and dark comedy. It delivers plenty of suspense while not overly scary. If you enjoyed Samara Weaving in The Babysitter films, you'll likely love seeing her in this movie.
