Hello Everyone
As usual, I write about Splinterlands during my weekends, and this time this post about getting stronger... I know this sounds funny, I am not the best or the strongest Splinterlands players, however I will share one of my tips about getting stronger here in Splinterlands.
This post is not addressed to you all the best players there, however this post will be very useful for beginners and some other casual players such as myself. As a casual players, we know that superiority comes with prices. We still want to win but with a lot more reasonable cost.
If you see people who win a lot with less level units, actually we are not that great that we can win with lower level units. We are just being lean, we buy or we get units that we need mostly at the most efficient way.

Let see this Anyu Huntswoman. It is a good card but most casual player dislike this card because it is growing linear. There is no milestone or "LEAP" in strength on this card.

The perfect card to explain about this leap or milestone is Aerial Shieldmaiden. At level 4, she gets a new ability, armor strike. Literally she will attack twice, first using her range attack 3 damage then her second attack is armor strike at 3 damage.
Thats 2x3 damage = 6 damage. It's a huge "LEAP", because that upgrade changes everything on Aerial Shieldmaiden. A Good casual players know well that they have to get level 4 Aerial Shieldmaiden at any cost, they do not aim max level Aerial Shieldmaiden. Higher level will make the card stronger, this is very obvious but the cost would not be efficient.
So you might have an idea that get the card until it has a new ability... It is partially correct however not all ability create this "LEAP". I show you one example here.

I love this Portly Cannoner. At level 5 he will get return fire ability, and an extra ability always be valuable. However it doesn't create any LEAP or making it as if an milestone of power up.
Most of my battle employing Portly Cannoneer, when he gets killed, those kills are not caused by range attacks. Mostly it is caused by melee sneak attacks or melee opportunity attacks. So having return fire ability is not that great for him.
I think you get the gist here, so let me add one more example.

I like this card a lot, Silverleaf Warlock. He has swiftness ability and it makes his team faster. Later he gets a backfire ability, when he dodges, opponents will get 2 melee damage back. It sounds cool and I like it, however it is not a "LEAP". Many cases I have him killed before manages to hit back using that backfire ability. The speed is not great enough to trigger many dodges/evades.
So that's the point I want to deliver through my post here. Get the leap, exploit it, you will end up competitive with stronger opponents at a more cheaper cost.
IMPLEMENTATION
Ok it is easy to say things, but how about the implementation? The easiest way is by giving some example. So let me share here an example from each element of Conclave Arcana edition, so you can get the whole idea clearly here.
There is a disclaimer here, it is very subjective based on my preferences. So each people even have the same approach as me, they might prefer other unit.
FIRE ELEMENT
Let start with fire element and I will go with Inept Healer Level 2.

You must be wondering why level 2, level 3 is better because he will have an extra magic damage, 2 magic damage. Well ok, I will go with that logic too, however the reason why I pick Inept Healer is because of "HEALER". He has corrupted healing starting from level 2.
Fire element has the least healer from all edition. So having a unit with healing ability is like a game changer here. You could even bring Inept Healer into wild format battle and he will be still someone important there.
WATER ELEMENT

It is Aerial Shieldmaiden and I think I do not need further introduction and explanation about him.
EARTH ELEMENT

My earth element unit is a bit unique, I bet most of you disagree with me or having different unit for this selection. I pick Mahkah Hemlig and even at level 1 she is ok. That bull is a she right?
4 magic damage that aimed by opportunity ability is very dangerous. it is not a guarantee of winning, but definitely this attack will negate some of your opponent defense. Some defensive meta would not work at all against this type of attack.
LIFE ELEMENT
Life element is the hardest here. None of them are very standout, all seem to be good.

If I have to choose one of them, I think it will be Calabash Sage at level 5. He has tank healing and 4 range attack damage. So this combination is the uniqueness about him.
But again, none of life element units are standout, they are good, very good but none so special about them.
DEATH ELEMENT

Deep Delver, a unique unit from my perspective. The main trait he has is his corrupted healing. He has that rust ability, however I see no conclave arcana death element units with a great striking power... So it's kind of paradox here.
Maybe in the next edition, we will see some melee and range unit who hit very hard. But still, I think having this Deep Delver at level 4 will start making your death element work differently.
DRAGON ELEMENT

If I see the unit individually, this one is a bit cheat. ZYRX THE EMBERGLACE is very strong, over power and as he levels up, he keeps growing linear.
However I see level 3 is where he begins to be a bullshit OP. Seriously giving EXECUTE ability on a unit that deliver 5 melee damage is too much, yet he still fires 2 magic damage.
Team wise, his incendiary ability is a problem. That's a handicapped ability for the team. However still, 5 melee damage hitting from anywhere + 2 magic damage and imbued with Execute.. is a bullshit OP.
NEUTRAL ELEMENT

In my opinion, even a level 1 BREN PALESWORN is very good, however to be distinctive, he needs to reach level 3. I have one simple reason for that, I really hate 1 melee damage attacker. If he faces CALABASH SAGE, his melee will be nullified.
But in general, double hit for a sneak attacker is a very good choice.
So those all the each units I recommend from each element. What do you think, do you have different opinion or unit selections? Feel free to share yours in the comment below.
