While it's true that the leaves do drop to conserve water, I did notice two things that I found interesting today on the way home.

First- the organic blueberry farm has bushes that are actually turning red-the traditional fall color for those bushes. If they were conserving, they would just drop yellow leaves.

Second, a little further towards home, the Sumac trees have the same phenomenon going on. Their leaves are turning the brillian shade of red that comes in the fall.

I'm not presuming anything with this, but you have to admit; it does give one food for thought!
