I really do enjoy your approach to this topic. Yes, our friends don't always fit into every aspect of our life, it's important we recognize where they best fit into that way we can enjoy the full benefits of the friendship.

Good thing you realized this in time, and put your friends in areas they fit with your school lifestyle the best.
