Gene & Ashlee’s DailyJams For Eighties Saturday 10/4/25! The Ramones & The Clash! Eighties Tunes! 🎸

I’ve covered the Ramones & Clash many Three Tune Tuesdays & other music days here on Hive! But often focusing on the late seventies era (1976-1979). Today I’m picking some songs I love from the poppier side of the Ramones! Mid eighties classic tunes that I think are underrated frankly! Ashlee takes a page from me and well my flat out suggestion to do same with The Clash!

Ashlee picks the 1982 Clash record “Combat Rock” which was there second to last album but really there last given the one after included member changes and just wasn’t them. Ironically this was there biggest commercial success and they could have kept going and I’m sure the record company offered many millions but as in some cases when the question is Should I Stay Or Should I Go? Welp the lead guitarist and half vocals duty member left after this huge album! Ashlee picks the hit single “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” for DailyJam! For BonusJam it’s the other big hit from the same record “Rock the Casbah”. We both prefer the early late seventies records but we both appreciate this album as well!

Following lead from Ashlee, I also pick one album to pick both my Jams from today. Choosing the 1986 album “Animal Boy” I find the different vibe these tracks have very interesting and I dig it! I tend to think about the fast punk vibe Ramones but these poppy tunes also bring joy to my ears! For DailyJam it’s the song “Bonzo Goes to Bitburg” where though a different vibe the lyrics remain punk rock AF. For BonusJam I choose the song “Something To Believe In” a tune that unlike the previous pick is not a political punk written lyrics song but a sentimental one on life! Enjoy the tunes below! Cheers!

Thanks for dropping by! Speaking of dropping things, drop a comment below if you liked the songs! Do you prefer the early punk rock years of 1976-1979 ? Or……..⬇️

Do you love the eighties era from these two bands? I like both! Heck the Ramones even had a nineties era! Ever ever hear those two records? Ur better off honestly but I do enjoy the pop melody side of Joey Ramone singing these tunes. A couple other tracks that are similar are the Ramones tune Pet Sematary (1989) & I Wanna Live (1987).
Heck I’ll put em here ⬇️
Ramones - Pet Sematary
Ramones - I Wanna Live
Cheers & happy weekend to all!
