On the other hand, treadmill walking seems quite American to me. I've only been to the Pacific Coast (and Minnesota when changing flights on my way home), but at least those places weren't really walking-friendly.
Yeah, the Pacific coast you can probably get out and about a bit more than you can in the Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan area. Don't get me wrong, we have some amazing days like the one you see in the opening photo, but then we have a lot like the second photo too. I'd honestly walk on a treadmill than be one of those old people walking in circles in the mall!
