Hi community!
The English striker is one of the top assist providers in the major leagues.
Marcus Rashford is enjoying his first few months at Barcelona and in La Liga. The winger has become one of Hansi Flick's most important players and one of the standout performers in the domestic league, as well as in the Champions League. His statistics confirm his excellent form and remarkable ability to adapt.
The player on loan from Manchester United, along with Milla, has provided the most assists in La Liga. He has delivered six assists in the 12 matches he has played. The last two came against Celta Vigo: he provided two brilliant passes to Robert Lewandowski, who scored a hat-trick. In fact, with these assists, he is also one of the top assist providers in Europe's top five leagues. No one has achieved more in the combined leagues of England, France, Germany, and Italy. Vitinha, of PSG, has the same number of assists as Rashford and Milla.
After a few initial settling-in matches—the first three—since Matchday 4, Rashford has been actively involved in at least one of Barça's goals in each game. In addition to his successful final combinations with his teammates, Rashford has scored two goals in the domestic league.
Despite being one of this season's signings, the 28-year-old Englishman has played the second-most minutes in the entire Barcelona squad. Between the Champions League and La Liga, he has played 1,134 minutes. Only Eric García, with 1,211, has played more. The winger featured in 807 minutes in the regular domestic league and 327 minutes in the top continental competition.
But Rashford isn't only dazzling in the Spanish league. He's also shining in European competition, where he's one of the top scorers. He has four goals, and only four players have found the net more than him: Osimhen has scored six; and Haaland, Harry Kane, and Mbappé, five each.
One of the areas Flick has focused on most with the Englishman in recent weeks is improving his defensive skills, and in the match against Celta Vigo last weekend, the Englishman was crucial in pressing and providing defensive support. The increased intensity with which he played was one of the manager's highlights of that game.
Improvement in this area is crucial for Rashford to compete with Raphinha on the left wing. His off-the-ball movement was one of the former Leeds player's main advantages over the Englishman. The Brazilian international is close to returning: everything indicates he will have recovered from his hamstring injury in time for the match against Athletic Bilbao, although if he is included in the squad, he wouldn't start because Flick favors a gradual return to play after injury. In any case, his return means the manager will have to choose between them.
The England international fulfilled his dream of playing for Barcelona and is enjoying this period, which he hopes won't end in June when his loan expires. The Catalan club is pleased with his performance, but hasn't yet seriously considered his future. They have a non-mandatory purchase option of €30 million.
