There is something that we need to be very much aware of when interacting with children or people whom can be influenced by us such as our subordinates.
In today's situation, whatever our parent's generation methods of teaching us as we grow up needs to be moving with times, using deterrence or putting words into us to tell us not to walk the wrong paths that they have taken. Words such as "don't waste time" or "bound to fail" injects a lot of negativity to an individual. And with such negativity piling up within an individual, the outcome will be that they become fearful to try new things, limit their creativity and often taken the safer path on things.
This is very dangerous as people will slowly move away from taking risk and things will start to spiral and everyone just do things within their comfort zone. And that is where the potential of an individual get suppressed due to words being used on them over years can impact their lives.
Let's not do that and instead use encouraging words to bring our next generation to the potential that they are meant to be.
