Of Petrol, Savings & Such

in SlothBuzz2 days ago

We arrived home rather late last night, but safe and sound. We could have extended our stay in the capital if it were not for my appointment at the local health office this morning, which cannot be rescheduled (unless I am willing to forfeit the first two shots I already paid in full. We are now back in BC and will be here until the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the price of petrol is quite shocking. Last week, when we had our gas tank filled, it was $1.12 per liter. The following day, it increased by 16%. We had another refill yesterday, and it rose another 38%. Maybe in the coming week, it will be up by over 50%. We were just thankful they didn't limit how much we could buy; otherwise, it would be a huge problem, especially since we need petrol and gasoline for the water pumps.

"It seems we would have to learn how to live like it was in the olden times, where we have to produce our own food, walk long distances if we want to go places, and such," The caretaker at the guesthouse lamented. "If the oil-rich countries decided to close their borders to importers, it would be terrible," she continued.

I can't imagine what life would be like if that happened (I didn't wish to imagine, to be honest). I'm still hopeful for better days ahead.

Anyway, I didn't do the weekly update on our Slothly goals yesterday since we were traveling, so I'm taking this opportunity to check the numbers.

23 HIVE was added from last time, which is nice, as it is within the average amount expected to complete the goal before the year ends. My initial HBD Savings is stuck at 30, and it's okay with me, especially since keeping HBD in the Savings would mean printing more of it. So yeah, will only be saving HIVE for now.

Smile... laugh often... love more... be grateful always!

Life can be so frustrating when fuel price increase, it can affect everything from transportation to basic living cost. Here in Nigeria, it's actually one of our major challenges too. Many people are constantly adjusting just to cope with the rising cost of fuel, and it puts a lot of pressure on daily life. We just hope that things improves with time.

It surely is. It can be really tough, especially for those who are trying to make ends meet.

That's it.

Yes, you can only imagine where fuel prices will go as the war in the Middle East continues... but then war is always profitable for certain entities, otherwise we would seldom see them.

You're right about that. That"s probably why some nations are keen on initiating wars

Yes, reveals much when you view it like that.

1,12$ per liter is a gift compared to here 😂 here we have reach 2,40€ per liter of gasoline which should be around 2,70$... And it's gonna rise, we will work to just pay the fuel

Well, you have a higher minimum wage over there than ours here, so it can't be compared like that😅

But yeah, it's crazy. Once gas is up, everything else follows

$1.12 feels like a lifetime ago

It might be for you😊 It was just over a week for us haha. And now, it's $2
