A visit to the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Cemetery Garden and the sacred Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nikolas of Myra/ A place full of peace [eng/spa]

The place that we will walk hand in hand today, I met it for the first time through the words of my friend @lileisabel, who suggested me on several occasions to visit it because of the unique vibe that you can feel there. And how right she was, it was just crossing the front door, and I was invaded by a peace that I believe that only those who have been there can understand.
I am referring to the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Cemetery Garden and the Sacred Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nikolas of Myra, which is located on one side of the St. Francis of Assisi Convent, and constitutes an oasis of tranquility in the midst of the movement of the square.

El lugar que recorreremos de la mano el día de hoy, lo conocí por primera vez a través de las palabras de mi amiga @lileisabel, quien me sugirió en varias ocasiones que lo visitara por la vibra tan única que se puede sentir allí dentro. Y cuánta razón tenía, fue solo cruzar la puerta de entrada, y me invadió una paz que considero que solo el que ha estado allí podrá comprender.
Me refiero al Jardín Camposanto Madre Teresa de Calcuta y la Sacra Catedral Ortodoxa Griega San Nikolas de Myra, el cual está ubicado en un lateral del convento San Francisco de Asís, y constituye un oasis de tranquilidad en medio del movimiento de la plaza.

I was delighted to learn that there is this space in Havana dedicated to the figure of Mother Teresa, who is a priceless example of love and dedication to the welfare of humanity. I have always believed that our planet would be a better place for everyone if there were more people like her.
In the garden there is a statue representing this generous missionary. It is made of bronze and its author is the Cuban artist José Villa Soberón. Calcutta is seated in her habit, holding a book in her hands. I was for a long time, right under the bell, thinking about all that her figure encloses.

Me encantó conocer que existe este espacio en La Habana dedicado a la figura de la Madre Teresa, quien constituye un ejemplo invaluable de amor y consagración por el bienestar de la humanidad. Siempre he considerado que nuestro planeta sería un mejor lugar para todos si existieran más personas como ella.
En el jardín existe una estatua que representa a esta generosa misionera. La misma es de bronce y tiene como autor al artista cubano José Villa Soberón. Calcuta se encuentra sentada con su hábito, sosteniendo un libro en sus manos. Estuve por largo rato, justo debajo de la campana, pensando en todo lo que encierra su figura.

In this place rest the remains of personalities who felt an immense affection for Cuba and its culture. Many of them are not Cuban, but some of their tombstones moved me to see these words: Loved Cuba.
The garden was remodeled in honor of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the eternal historian of the city of Havana, Eusebio Leal Spengler; and it is precisely there where the remains of this Cuban who felt so much love for our capital and for Cuba rest. At the time of my visit, his tomb was adorned with a beautiful bouquet of white flowers, which accentuate the purity of his figure.

En este lugar reposan los restos de personalidades que sintieron un cariño inmenso por Cuba y su cultura. Muchas de ellas no son cubanas, pero algunas de sus lápidas me emocionó ver estas palabras: Amó a Cuba.
El jardín tuvo un proceso de remodelación en homenaje al aniversario 80 del natalicio del eterno historiador de la ciudad de La Habana Eusebio Leal Spengler; y precisamente allí descansan los restos de este cubano que tanto amor sintió por nuestra capital y por Cuba. En el momento de mi visita, su tumba estaba adornada por un precioso ramo de flores blancas, que acentúan la pureza de su figura.

One of the elements that caught my attention in the garden was the sculpture called The table of silence. The message conveyed by this work is mind-blowing, from my perception it is a family that despite being physically together, each individual is immersed in his or her own world. The first person is watching a cell phone, the second is reading the newspaper and the third is a girl doing her nails. This is a call to live in the present, and to learn to enjoy and share time with our loved ones.

Uno de los elementos que más llamo mi atención en el jardín, fue la escultura llamada La mesa del silencio. El mensaje que transmite esta obra es alucinante, desde mi percepción es una familia que a pesar de estar junta físicamente, cada individuo está inmerso en su propio mundo. La primera persona está observando un celular, la segunda lee el periódico y la tercera es una chica que arregla sus uñas. Este es un llamado a vivir el presente, y a aprender a disfrutar y a compartir el tiempo con nuestros seres queridos.

Near the end of the garden, stands the imposing facade of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. My tour of the cemetery was early in the morning, so I did not get to see its interior, which the kind lady who guards the place told me is beautiful. I also learned that the mass is at 9 am, but this will be a perfect excuse to come back the next time I am near that area.

Casi al finalizar el jardín, se erige la imponente fachada de la Sacra Catedral Ortodoxa Griega. Mi recorrido por el camposanto fue a primera hora de la mañana, así que no alcance a ver su interior, el cual me comentó la amable señora que custodia el lugar, es precioso. También supe que la misa la realizan a las 9 horas, pero será esta una excusa perfecta para regresar la próxima vez que me encuentre cerca de esa zona.
