A Day Trip To Kilmacurragh

in Photography Lovers3 days ago

The Christening yesterday was amazing, and everyone really enjoyed themselves. There were minimal mishaps, and it was so much fun seeing everyone we don't get to see often.

The kids all had a great time running around and were the entertainment for the day.

Aimee's parents took the kids home at the end of the day, and let us stay out for a few more to hang out with a few mates who came down to it.

Today, since our friend Luke is over for few days we wanted to get and do something with him head out to Kilmacurragh, which are botanicle not for from where we live.

Here is a really nice lake they have near the centre of the land.

It is such a nice walk, and throughout you'll find a wide variety of plants and trees from Ireland, and from around the wider world.

The walk is amazing, especially on a nice day. You could spend hours out there, especially if you brought a picnic.

My sister and her kids came too, so them and Kaleb were running around like lunatics. While Ollie laughed from his pram.

Ferns always remind me of jurassic park.

Every inch of the gardens is well maintained and picture esque.

You can go on a tour of the gardens and learn about each species, as well as when they were planted in the gardens. We've never done that though, but it's something I've wanted to do for a while.

Sadly, by time we usually make it out it's late afternoon, and nearly closing.

This is my favourite tree.

It's a huge Redwood, but probably not as large as some you'd see over in Calafornia.

They feel so strange, almost spongey. I told Kaleb they're Star Wars trees and he asked why, and I said that Ewoks live in them. He was then trying to spot some.

In Return of The Jedi all the Endor scenes where shot out in the Redwood Forest.

On the way out, here is the view.

It's such a peaceful place, and everytime we go out there there is a nice feeling of calmness that kind of washes over us.

Kilmacurragh is a nice hidden jem, but is well worth visiting if you ever find yourself in County Wicklow.

Looks like a cool place. I've grown to appreciate gardens and nature, but then my parents liked places like that. We've got a few ferns of our own in the garden and I like seeing how they uncurl. Real primeval plants.

I've always loved nature, but I find that being out in Kilmacurragh really helps me appreciate it more. Where I live is full of nature, but it's easy to not pay attention to it on a daily basis
