One of My Prized Possessions

in Hive Gaming3 days ago

I bought this game a few months ago, during the second season of the Fallout TV show.

There have been a couple of times over the years where I have spoken/ written about Fallout: New Vegas; it is my favourite Fallout game, and it is definitely in my top 10 favourite games of all time.

Even though it is one of my favourite games, I have never played any of the DLCs, and, miraculously, I have managed to avoid nearly all spoilers for them for the last 16 years, because I have always intended to buy and play them.

They are available to buy on the Xbox Store digitally, but I prefer owning things physically, and also, there are some additional pieces of content that can only be used on the physical version.

God ray, please.

The ultimate addition of Fallout: New Vegas has always been on my wanted list. But it was always so expensive.

Throughout the years of collecting, buying and selling, I always told myself to hold off on paying full price, because I'll find it.

Well, one night, Aimee and I were watching an episode of Fallout, and when it ended, I got into one of my moods where I like to rant and rave about New Vegas, so I got on my phone, and looked on CEX to check the price of the Ultimate Edition.

(I just looked it up, and it's €75, and for the standard normal addition of the game, it's €20)

I have it with the manual, and both discs are in great condition.

After checking CEX (at the time, it was about €68, but it was out of stock) I headed over to eBay.

Typically, I find that eBay prices are usually higher than CEX for some reason, but something compelled me to check it this night.

I'm scrolling, and I see it for €10 + €3 postage, being sold by someone here in Ireland. I was shocked, but assumed it was too good to be true.

I scrutinised the photos to look at the discs, and they seemed fine. The account was new, so I figured it could be a scam or something.

On the listing, it said there were 3 watchers, and I knew that within a few minutes, it was going to be gone, so I bit the bullet and ordered it.

Within a few days, it arrived, and I was over the moon.

I don't know why the person was selling it so cheap, but I was delighted that I could add it to my collection without breaking the bank.

Also, I've never really come across 'Classics' versions of Xbox 360 games, so it stands out among my other games.

It's strange, because this has happened on many occasions now, where I have been compelled to check a site, or go to a shop at a particular time, only to find something I want, or need for a really reasonable price... or free.

I have tons of stories similar to this, which I'm going to share over the coming weeks.

Feedback from the June Hive Power Up Day
Hive Power Up Month Challenge - May 2026 Winners List
Be ready for the June edition of the Hive Power Up Month!

What a snag! Very cool. The DLCs for NV were a lot of fun broadly speaking. I think, as usual, some of them hit better than others... but I remember all of them fondly. Hopefully you enjoy them!

I'm really looking forward to getting into them, in my current playthrough, I was thinking of doing a Legion run, but am now falling towards the NCR.

The NCR probably aren't the best choice as a whole, but I find myself drawn to them based more on the individual members.

For the Xbox 360 too, what a time and some memorable games it had.
I didn't have New Vegas for it myself.. but when I played it on PC, I was as in love with it as I was with Fallout 3.

What a great pick up mate, getting it with the DLC and in great condition, enjoy!

Tell me about it, I really miss the Xbox 360 days. It was such a fun time, online gaming was still in its infancy, the pre-game lobbies were filled with fun (and verbal warcrimes) some of the vest franchises were released in that period from 2005/2006 - 2013, the studios were filled with people at the top of their game.

Slowly, it started to change though, don't get me wrong, there have been some great games releasing in recent times. Back then though, it seemed like every other month there was an absolute classic being released.
