How long does it take you to create a post .jpg

Most of us create content on a regular basis on hive but we probably all wonder how much others invest in this process. Let's exchange :-)

How long does it take you to create a hive post? What tools do you use? How do you proceed?

Please leave your answer as a comment below this post.

For a while my publications have been based on photographs. They require a large investment of time that I make because I enjoy doing them, but it is difficult to calculate the real amount of time and its monetary value.

First I go out to explore places, exhibitions or interesting events that I then want to share. Sometimes they arise from my activities and I don't "have to" go out to look for them. I take the photos with my mobile phone, an iPhone.

Then I select and organise the photographs. I edit them very little, only the basics. I do this on the computer, a Mac, with the programs that come by default.

Then I write my story while I add the photos. Sometimes I also research related data and add the links of the references...

To publish I use PeakD, where I have some templates for the header and footer of the posts. As an English translator I use DeepL.

Ah, finally after posting I respond to the comments I receive. I like that dialogue with readers that also consumes a lot of time. I like to be proportionate and grateful for what I receive.

Thanks a lot for sharing your worflow :-)

Now you know my secret. 😁

My process usually starts with an idea that I develop in a basic outline.
Then I write the draft, revise and edit several times until I am satisfied with the result.
In terms of tools, I use a word processor to write the initial content and Grammarly to check the spelling and grammar.
I also edit images with Canva if the post requires it.

Lately, I’ve been keeping my posts as short as possible, haha. I’ve really gotten a little tired of long posts and of posting all the time. So, back in the day, I think it used to take me about 5 to 10 minutes, but now I think it takes less than 3 minutes. I really don’t want to share very long posts—just a little bit about how my day went or some adventure I had while coding.

But I’ll try to keep up the quality and make posts that at least add some value.

3 minutes is really fast to create a post :-)

It depends on the post. For splinterlands, sometimes I have to do fights and get a battle that I can post about. So it can take anywhere between 1 hour to 3 hours. As for my other posts, it depends on what it is about.

It's nice to write about battles and share your learnings in terms of strategy and economy about the game. I did that in the past until I stopped playing the game...

@exhaust, @actifit, not long !LOLZ

I don't invest much time and effort in it lately, I am afraid.

I don't invest much time and effort in it lately, I am afraid.

So a bit minimalistic efforts ;-)

First and foremost - the idea.
It comes to me in the blink of an eye or in a few days 😄
Since I mostly publish posts with pictures, it's easy for me when I had a trip or an opportunity to photograph an interesting location, something in nature, so I have material in the album. then I just need to come up with what I want to write about and get to work.
I edit photos in the Samsung gallery, I rarely use Canva and Snapseed apps for image processing, and I make video clips in Youcut. I don't use any advanced AI tools...

I use google translate for translation and post on my mobile phone, through Ecency or Peakd app depending on how much time I have to pack photos.

I don't have a post Template...

So, in total, it takes a lot of time...
One post with more photos and 500-600 words will probably take me an hour to an hour and a half.
If I'm researching some historical facts about the places I'm writing about, about personalities or works of art, maybe up to two hours...
But when you're doing something you love, and it's your hobby, that's not a lot of time.
Better 2 hours creating than 2 hours watching TV 🙂

Better 2 hours creating than 2 hours watching TV

That's a very good point. It's nice to see how much energy you put in your posts!

My daily actifit posts are mostly to the point and not that hard to create.
But other posts takes a bit of time.
I will first gather all the data before i start doing my posts.

For example, before giveaway posts became a sin, for every risingstar giveaway i use to spend more time knowing about the artist, its songs etc and then create my posts.

Sometimes, the post idea is spontaneous. so i first write about it in my notepad and then copy everthing to peakd / inleo / ecency and then polish it.
Sometimes, the content written never leaves the notepad.

But i will also say that, sometimes its just a post. 🤣

My posts are photo based, and since photography is a hobby enjoyed in my whole family I have a Google album continously filled with new photos taken specifically for me to post on Hive. I don't use a template, but download photos from the family album directly onto my mobile and then create my posts using Ecency app. Doing historical research that I want to include in my post often takes the most time. If it's a subject I am particularly interested in I can get a bit lost reading all the information available and then determining what info to include in my post that others might find interesting, too. Posts often take several hours to create.

depends on the photography that i post along with it and if the image servers can keep up . The bigger the post with photos , the longer it takes .

After all if you make + 150 photos you need to select the right photos first , i consider that part also as time being used for posting , after all you start to select what you are going to post , then you need to develop your images sometimes a little crop or straighten the image , sometimes convert it to black and white .

Most of the time it takes a couple of hours , and looking at the posting rewards i wouldn't call it work in anyway . 🤣

Probably not that great income per working hour lol

Sometimes, even when I have an idea, it still feels like I have nothing to write about. That changes once I'm actually sitting at the keyboard and am in the flow. My posts usually take at least 1 hour to create but usually just a little more. The only tools I use are my phone and usb cable to transfer pictures and videos to my computer, where I prefer to write.

I also prefer to write on a big keyboard than on a phone. I don't know how people manage to write whole posts like that...

Depends on the topic. For one which I am familiar with and writing about regularly, I'd have already preplanned it for a week in advance and usually just take 5-10 minutes per day. Tools used, peakd, even for the image generation!

That's quite efficient :-)

While my posts are mostly ramblings and daily hapenings irl, shadows, reflections, tunes, travel, etc I spend over an hour to create and publish them. Sometimes, shorter, at other times, may take longer, depending on my state of mind, or if I'm multi-tasking 😊

Travel posts or others with several pictures usually take a lot more since I need to edit photos and upload them.

I mostly use peakd and ecency on desktop, or my phone when away from home.

Thanks a lot for sharing your workflow with us :-)

It depends on the type of post. For everyday photo posts (on Liketu), it takes me about 15 to 30 minutes, but if the post is about Splinterlands, it takes me about an hour or more, since I need to edit the photos and create images in Canva

Photo editing can take a lot of time...

It really depends of many variables. It depends of what the post is about also. Sometimes I do some research about a certain topic to get different sources. For example, the post from yesterday a review about a tv show it takes less than reading some articles before writing, like the one from Monday about bananas in smoothies hehe
I don't take the time, but I would bet that at least 30 min is needed for the shortest post.

That's quite fast all the same.

Depends on the subject, sometimes ten minutes, others needing a lot of screenshots and editing of pictures can be over an hour. I wish they all could be just then minutes though! lol

I wish they all could be just then minutes though

That would be a very fast processus indeed lol

I can't answer that since I do not post anymore. Back then, it probably took me about 15 to 30 minutes on my phone? :)

Well not everybody is a content creator on hive and that's totally fine!

it is a hard to measure this one. My median time should be around 40-55 minutes. I have a post that takes 2-3 hours to finish. Some of the post only needed 10-15 minutes to complete.

My record was 5 hours writing for 6 posts with all more than 1000 words wtih all on different topics and I did that whilst watching World Cup, no AI and any tools helping.

there are times that I enjoy spending hours to write something, and there times even 30minutes make me feel it is forever...

so those are my numbers...

For me it takes nearly 2 hours for full post. Also it depends from do I need to edit images or photos. Becides classic image editor I use app to create collage and sometimes I use traanslator to check my grammar and to avoid misspelling.
