I recall becoming increasingly upset about downvoting some time ago. Despite never having been a victim. Because I was reading other people's tales of woe. Then I got so annoyed by my perception of the unfairness that I almost quit Hive.

However, I got very encouraging responses from one or two people. Unfortunately, I can't remember who or when. But the gist of the advice was to focus on what I enjoyed about Hive, and ignore the perceived downsides. And I now realize that there simply isn't any alternative platform that gives so many learning and entertainment opportunities in one place.

!BBH

I agree that these downvotes stories can be disapointing and it's one of the things that I don't like here, especially when the downvotes are not give to actively fight plagiarisme or mechanical content.

Man I am getting old in here! not old as many of you guys but still here for a while, so yeah many tips were very constructive.
I remember once I posted a movie review, probably one of my first ones. I love movies and Tv shows, but the feedback was very good. They basically said what is the difference between your post and a IMDB text? That really triggered me not just as a writer, but also as a curator.
Finding uniqueness in posts is important for value.

Finding uniqueness in posts is important for value.

In a world where you don't know what is real and what is ai, uniqueness will be the one thing that makes you stand out!

Engagement is KEY!

Short and sweet, but I think it's the most important part of the Hive experience. Hive is supposed to be a social site that brings communities together to create a buzz! That's the key to success. Some users don't create their own content; they simply support and comment on other content and earn and grow from there!

Sloth and steady wins the race, there's no rush, as long as we don't stop, we'll keep moving forward!

It's definitely the engagement that makes hive shine. It's where human connection can be created and where we become more than anonymous internet users...

Ohh it's good question. Honestly was several advices from different areas. One of them was how to edit better posts, on was how to keep in safety tokens. Now I can't choose the only one advice but all of them were given from deep inside of burning hearts.

The fact that we get advice to start with is already powerful. In other places, people don't really care about others...

It is your own race, do not compare or envy.

That was what was shared to me.

That's important. Everybody is at his own stage in the process of growing on hive and we should compare or envy.

The best advice I ever got was that when you get paid, before you pay anything else, pay yourself. Always take money and save it away before paying everything else. It's the soundest advice I've ever received!

That's something that I believe people don't realize that well. Also, when you deal with crypto there is this chance to stake till the project dies. It's always good to pull something out of an investment and make sure not to reinvest everything.

The best advice I was given about Hive was to be consistent and authentic in my posts.
They recommended that I focus on topics that I am really passionate about and connect with the community through genuine comments on other users posts.
I did put it into practice, and I noticed that by interacting more and staying true to my style, I was able to form meaningful connections and increase my reach on the platform.

I was able to form meaningful connections and increase my reach on the platform.

What I like about hive is that the platform is small and we tend to know people more than on other big platforms. Therefore, we want to know the real person, not the side of image that a person wants to give of her/himself.

Engage with others. I was close to quitting at one point, but I came across one of taskmaster4450's post about how I should at least try to leave 100 meaningful comments before complaining. It worked, and I am still around because of it and the friends that I have made on Hive.

For me you were always the person who really lived this. The number one commenter :-)

I'm not sure from whom, but be active and original, post regularly, engage with others, and be prepared for the long term.

be prepared for the long term.

Hive is definitely not a short term game. It's the long term that makes it nice because it becomes our second home on the internet :-)

Yeah, it's my 10th year here...

To stop when it stops being fun. Advice was mine.

No need to wait for the shitshow lol

lol very true

The best advice I have received on Hive has come from Ecency. "if you love it, set it free'. Developers give away their work and make it open source so that everyone can use it. I try to follow the example they set.

That's a good point. By giving away to others we empower them and if a lot of people do that, we have all leverage to grow and evolve faster.

Make an introduction post.

I didn't know how to start after lurking for months. And while commenting on other people's content, LivingUKTaiwan suggested I create an introduction post. I did, and Hive has become my home since.😊

That's really a good idea to do at the start. They often get a lot of views and it can be great for the future of our hive journey.

It sure is. The warm welcome adds a boost to our morale to continue :)

Thank you :)

Be patient and have long-term vision. Be myself and have fun in the process.
!PIMP

That's a very good sentence and it applies very well to hive!

To be careful with plagiarism, in relation to texts, images, videos, and such things.

That's an important advice which is not only true for hive I believe.

Hmmmmm to be honest, this is pretty tough. I don't think I have received any major life changing advice because most of my interactions are quite light hearted and casual. Maybe an interesting one is to

center my photos for better effect

Hehe!

Well that's not a bad advice, even if it's not life changing lol

Thanks!

Sell the tokens that you are not interested in following. You get many different tokens on post and liquidity pools. It is good to occasionally go through and clean up all those tokens. It gives you some extra hive.

It's always a good idea to sell the tokens you don't plan to keep before they lose value...

Well, it is a general answer/advice on how you best behave/act on any social attention platform:

be true to yourself

I got started with Hive on the advice of @jongolson and then I watched every one of his training videos (on the old Click Track Profit platform) to get off to a good start. One bit of his advice that I didn't take in the early days was to get active in Splinterlands... I joined, but didn't want to "get sucked in" and spend too much time on the platform. Then I got some good advice from somebody about the high interest that you could earn by staking SPS! You have to do that inside Splinterlands, so I started to log in and stake SPS... and ended up getting sucked into the game! These days the interest rate on SPS is not so high, but I'm highly engaged with the game - running a guild, and harvesting several plots of land... Whether "stake SPS" was ultimately good financial advice, I don't know, but I have a lot of fun with Splinterlands.

Oh, and here's some advice for you, dear reader: Join my Splinterlands guild!

I don't think all the advice I've gotten about HODLing and how we'll moon (for HIVE and just about every single HIVE L2 token) panned out. In fact, anyone who took that seriously probably made huge losses.

That said, the best advice I've given myself on my HIVE experiment is to just turn up everyday. As for the results... amount of HIVE has increased, value overall has decreased significantly. Ah well. 🤣

Well, that is something that we have to live with. It's always good to listen to all the 'powerful adivce givers' and then take the decisions for ourselves :-)

I was told to not expect to get rich overnight. It will be a slow and steady process but only if you participate in the process.

I have and am continually trying to take my time and be active on Hive. It sounds so simple but it does take dedication.

3 credits were added for the Liotes Ranking

it does take dedication.

That's definitely true :-)

Best advise i received on Hive / hive related Discord was to get a 2nd camera or was that in the steemit years not sure :)

That's an interesting one !

3 credits were added for the Liotes Ranking

Honestly... none

Might not be a good answer but it is a honest one

haha, you probably don't really show people that you want to get advice :-)

that makes sense too, regarding many see me as a weirdo lol

3 credits were added for the Liotes Ranking

I've gotten a couple of them but the one that stood out is "If you want to grow on Hive, treat it as a business. Show up everyday". This is invariably saying, be consistent.

3 credits were added for the Liotes Ranking

Thank you.

I think the best advice I received when I arrived at Hive was to become part of a community. Before, I hardly ever posted and had no one to turn to, so a community helps clear up doubts more quickly.

It's a great feeling to start and realize that some people care and it's easier to reach that in a community. The smaller the population is, the more interaction you can achieve, the more trust evolves...
