Nimbledook Explorer: One of Rebellion's Most Underrated Cards

in Splinterlands11 hours ago

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

The Nimbledook Explorer is a common Life splinter reward card introduced during the Rebellion era of Splinterlands. At first glance, it appears to be a purely defensive support unit because it starts with no attack, but it becomes surprisingly useful as it levels up. Pair it with a unit with Weapons Training ability and it becomes even deadlier. In today's post, well look into its lore, stats & abilities and show a battle where it's used effectively.

Lore

The card belongs to the Nimbledook gnomes, a faction of inventive and adventurous gnomes featured in the Splinterlands universe. They are known for their curiosity, ingenuity and willingness to venture into dangerous territory.

From the Splinterlands lore page:

The rock gnomes of Nimbledook aren’t concerned about the Chaos Empire. Instead, they’ve set their sights on adventures in uncharted land well beyond the reach of the empire’s tyranny.

The legions of Chaos steer clear of the Sea of Karsts. The dangers are too great and not worth the effort. So what better place for the Nimbledook’s next great expedition?

Stats and Abilities

The Nimbledook Explorer is a four mana, Life card. He starts off with an underwhelming stats and abilities. He has no attack and a bit slow with only two speed. At level one, he has his most useful ability, Protect, that grants two armor stats to all allies. At level five he gains the Armored Strike ability, giving him an attack. At maxed level, he becomes a more sustainable card as he gains a heal ability. Overall, he has some useful abilities and maybe a good card in low mana battles. Pairing him with a unit with Weapons Training will make it much better, allowing it to gain attack power despite having no native attack.

Featured Battle

The battle included my favorite Outsider ruleset that allowed me to use a Wild card. I already planned to have an armored team in mind and I decided to use magic attackers. I used the Frontier archon Incessant Sage that grants one armor stat to all allies. The rest of the team were as follows.

Ulundin Overseer

Ulundin Overseer is a beefy tank with twelve health but has no attack. Giving him more armor adds to his sustainability. Further, giving him an attack through Weapons Training transforms him to an offensive unit. He's my favorite card to pair with Shiraza.

Shiraza

Shiraza is one of my favorite cards because of her Weapons Training ability. She grants an attack to no attack units thus increasing their utility.

Nimbledook Explorer

Nimbledook Explorer is another no attack unit that has a strong support ability. Pairing it with Shiraza increased it's utility as it gains an attack.

Mindless Thrall

Mindless Thrall is a strong magic damage dealer with three attack and is super fast with five speed stats. He has the Phase ability that defends against magic attacks.

Olivia of the Brook

Olivia of the Brook was a sensation when she first came out. She's the first unit to have the Mimic ability. She's extremely fun to use as she gains multiple abilities the longer the battle progresses.

Iziar

Iziar is a legendary card that's very versatile. He can play tank in some situations but generally, he's a Taunt unit that draws attacks away from the tank and damage dealers. He has high health stats and Void ability to decrease magic damage received.

The enemy had a good team with dual tank combo, decent damage dealers and a support tank healer. However, they were at a lower level and posed little challenge. Too bad since I wanted to see how my magic armored team will perform.

Final Thoughts

The Nimbledook Explorer is valued for its durability and support utility. It is a deceptively strong support card. It may look harmless because it starts with no attack. However, with armor synergies, Weapons Training and Armored Strike, it can become a surprisingly effective weapon to your Life Splinter lineup.
