Hey Actifitters,
It started the day before, but the first real summer heat really hit us yesterday, in the low 90s F (about 33C). Again I know it's nothing for some of you living in hot climates, but for us, it's hot! Especially so suddenly. Even Le Chat was lazier than usual!
Kaia was like, Come on sis, you gotta move!
Like I said in the past, one almost sure way to get her moving is to go near the small forest behind the front yard. We went there and found these tracks. No idea why somebody would drive a car all this way...
At first Kaia chased something into the forest.
But she came back, something was more important than the critters in the forest.
Of course, it was Le Chat!
Unfortunately we couldn't walk much longer as I had a late afternoon meeting. Too hot anyways! My meeting ended after nightfall, and by that time it was still warm, but bearable for our long walk to the forest. Just a couple minutes before the forest entrance, we met a deer and a cute family of raccoons trying to hide in a tree. Couldn't get any good pictures unfortunately. But when we entered the forest, what we found was mosquitoes! Lots of them! I knew they'd come back when it got warm, but I didn't expect it to be so bad so quickly. See how Kaia is trying to shake them off her head.
It was bad enough that we didn't walk as much as usual on the trails.
And instead of cutting back through the forest as usual, we followed the edge for a while.
It was another chance for a photo of the raccoons. Only one is visible though, the other ones, including babies, were behind the branches.
We finished with a longer walk in the neighborhood, even quieter than usual.
Under the Moon of course.
Well, it was my last chance to stay in #poprzeczka competition, but I wasn't anywhere close to the bar. I'm done for the month of May. At least I made it onto the podium. That heat just ruined my motivation. More heat in the forecast, followed by strong T-storms, so there could be a few low steps count days.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
