Hey,
I was probably going back to the 90s again for this week's song, but in view of the sad news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away today, I will go back much further, to the 70s, with Iron Man by Black Sabbath. There was lots of possible choice from Black Sabbath with War Pigs and Paranoid for instance, and of course plenty from Ozzy's solo career but for me, Iron Man is just a little bit above the rest. That infamous intro, that perfect guitar riff and of course Ozzy's so unique voice, already make that song iconic! It wasn't that long ago that I actually paid attention to the lyrics that are quite interesting too. Overall, a great song that many include in the few songs starting the heavy metal genre. And for sure, many of the metal bands I listen to nowadays name Black Sabbath as one of their big influences. Ozzy will for ever be the Prince of Darkness. It is sad but also so impressive that he was able to perform one last Black Sabbath concert just a couple weeks ago.
For some reason, this version doesn't have the initial legendary 'I am Iron Man' intro, but at least it's a video:
Good luck y'all!
