When Love Meets Reality

in HiveGhana3 months ago

Greetings everyone, I'm glad to participate in this HiveGhana weekly prompt, “Love vs Reality.”

People used to say that love is blind. Well, I accept that, but in this kind of situation, love must not blind you. If it were me, I would break up with her, because if we continue with the relationship, we won't enjoy it. Every time we get, we will spend it on sickle cell children, so it is better to break up before such things happen.

If this scenario happened, what I would first do is inform my parents about the issue. The doctor would have confirmed to us that if my fiancée and I married each other, we would give birth to sickle cell children. I would also tell her to inform her parents about the issue. I know that it's very difficult to make such a decision, but it's for our own good to let each other go and find another partner.

This prompt makes me remember something similar that happened to my friend. There was a girl that my friend loved so much. They usually wore the same clothes every day, to the extent that anywhere you saw this girl, you would definitely see my friend there too. Both of them usually made a statement that “nobody in this world can separate them except death.”

As a friend, I usually felt jealous of their love. Sometimes, I used to ask God for that kind of love. They had been together for many years, and my friend used to spend money on this girl. It was my friend that sponsored this girl through school.

One day, both of them came to their senses and decided to get married. They chose a date for the introduction, and everyone went there. To be honest, the introduction was so sweet. For an ordinary introduction, my friend bought three cows, and all his friends also contributed money for him. Since I have been in this life, I have not seen that kind of event. It was so nice, and everybody was so happy for them because their love started from childhood.

Four months later, after the introduction, they started planning for the wedding. They sent invitations to some of our friends abroad, inviting them to come for the wedding. They even paid the artist that was coming to play for them on their wedding day.

One day, one of my friend’s sisters, who is a doctor in a hospital in the UK, called my friend. She asked if both of them had done their genotype test. My friend said no, and his sister advised both of them to do it, and they agreed.

A week before the wedding, both of them went to the hospital to do the genotype test. But to cut the story short, they discovered that both of them were sickle cell carriers (AS/AS). When they heard this, they started crying, and the doctor advised them not to risk it. To cut the story short, they later left each other and found other partners.

Thanks for reading.

So sorry for your friend. Their love story made me read your post to the end. But they did that text at the wrong time. Before emotions get involved, they are supposed to know wether or not they can get married.
Thanks for sharing
