Hello, everyone! Today I will be continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me keep track of the songs I have used so I dont end up repeating them. The last song I talked about in my last post is: Sunrise from the american singer Norah Jones.
Ackrite: Dr. Dre & Hitman
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Ackrite from the legendary rapper Dr. Dre.
I discovered my first hip-hop songs during my teenage years, and they are related to a time when I played a lot of a multiplayer role-playing mode in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. In this mode, I had to play a real person in that world, so when I had to play a gang member for a while, I had to learn and listen to some of the songs that a gang member from that era on the west coast of the United States would listen to.
Until then, I listened to songs of that genre very casually, but I wasn't a very frequent consumer. However, everything changed several years later, when I wasn't playing as much and I happened to see the documentary film Straight Outta Compton on Netflix. That movie brought me back to hip hop and, above all, made me a much bigger fan of Dr. Dre.
During that period of fanaticism for who I now consider my favorite music producer, I reviewed all the albums he released. One of the most overlooked songs from his iconic album 2001 is Ackrite. One might think that the song is not good, but in my opinion, the instrumental and rap in every song on that album is a fucking work of art; there is no low point.
Dr. Dre is one of the most important artists in the history of hip-hop. He began his career as part of a group that was a far cry from what it would become years later: World Wrecking Cru (electro funk).
After leaving his first band, he decided to form a new band with friends from his neighborhood, which would become one of the most legendary groups in gangsta rap. He formed a group with artists who are now very well known, such as Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Mc Ren, and Dj Yella. The group enjoyed several years of success until it broke up due to disputes between members and their manager.
Dr. Dre decided to release his first solo album in 1992: The Chronic. This album was a huge success, featuring songs that gained considerable recognition and the participation of the then unknown Snoop Dogg. Songs like Let Me Ride, Fuck With Dre Day, Nuthin But a G Thang and Bitches Ain't Shits made it an absolute classic of the genre.
It took Andre a few years to replicate the success of his first album, and he did so with what he would title 2001. This album featured collaborations with elite artists or those who were about to break out, such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige, and many more. For my part, I can highlight several songs from this album, such as Still D.R.E, The Watcher, What's the Difference, Forgot About Dre, Some L.A Niggaz, Housewife, The Message, and finally my choice today: Ackrite.
