Rising Star - I choose one song per day, Daily Rising Star statistics and giveaway of 150,000 starbits - Self Control: Laura Branigan

In this space I will be giving away STARBITS, sharing my experience with a song, telling how I discovered it, and providing interesting information about it. Then I will include several tables with statistics of the Rising Star game.

Starting in May, I started to create a playlist to keep track of the last songs I commented on in my posts. It will be useful for me not to doubt if I had already talked about a song before or not. The last song is Act a Fool of the artist Ludacris.

My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Self Control of the italo-american artist Laura Branigan.

A few years ago, I decided to give Grand Theft Auto: Vice City a try. I was always quite a fan of the saga, but neither that installment nor GTA III managed to fully capture my attention. I took advantage of the release of the remastered version that Rockstar Games released for GTA III, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City. Of the three, the only one I didn't finish was GTA III, simply because it bored me too much.

What does Grand Theft Auto Vice City have to do with it? The game had an extensive soundtrack that was based on radio stations where most of them played classic rock or pop. On one of the stations, I found my two favorite tracks from the game: Self Control by Laura Branigan and I Just Died in Your Arms.

Self Control ended up loving it and became one of my favorite songs of all time. It also served as a bridge to listen to other songs by the artist such as Power of Love, Ti Amo, How Am I Supposed to Live without You and Spanish Eddie. One of her best known songs was Gloria, a song I listened to many times but had no idea it belonged to the artist.

Laura Branigan is an Italian-American artist who was born in 1952. She achieved worldwide success thanks to her single Gloria which was released in 1982 and toured the world. She also had albums like Self Control which were a complete success with songs like Self Control, Ti Amo and The Lucky One.

Sadly, the artist passed away in 2004 at her home due to a brain aneurysm.

The new format will be similar to the one we used some time ago, using the Hive Tools application. However, the application didn't always work, so this time we will be using a Discord bot that is in charge of returning a winner from among all the comments on a Hive post.
