In this section, I will no longer be handing out STARBITS, as those entries are not allowed. However, I will continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me remember whether I have already talked about a song before or not. The most recent one is The Streets from the artists WC, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg
Smooth Criminal: Michael Jackson
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Smooth Criminal from the legendary american artist Michael Jackson.
During my childhood, I was quite a fan of all kinds of music. Maybe not in such a direct way, but I always listened to whatever song was playing at the time and knew the lyrics, even though I might not have known the artist or the name of the song. Apart from the music that was popular at the time, which was the beginning of Reggaeton, I was also influenced by the songs I heard at home, where Rock and Pop music were constantly playing.
Since I was a kid, I had always known about Michael Jackson's fame and that he was considered one of the most important artists in the history of Pop, but I wasn't really familiar with his music. I think my first real experience was when I had to do a dance with my classmates for school, just like Michael Jackson does in the video for one of his most famous songs, Thriller.
Until then, I wasn't a fan of the artist at all, except that listening to some of his most iconic songs made me feel nostalgic for my childhood. But everything changed one day when I was listening to a playlist that had a lot of pop music from those years, and I found myself listening to one of my favorite artists: Laura Branigan. It turns out that the Spotify platform ended up recommending one of Michael Jackson's most iconic songs: Billie Jean.
After listening to Billie Jean and being quite enchanted, I had no choice but to listen to more of his songs. I ended up finding several gems such as Beat It, Rock With You, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, and my choice for today: Smooth Criminal.
Smooth Criminal is one of the most recognizable songs released by the iconic artist Michael Jackson. It was included on his album Bad and released in 1987. It has become one of the artist's most successful songs, currently achieving high numbers such as 943,000,000,000 plays on Spotify, while on YouTube it has achieved the incredible sum of 1,000,000,000,000.
