Hello, everyone! Today I will be continue to share high-quality songs, share how I discovered them, and share some interesting facts about them. To top it all off, I will also include several tables with the statistics compiled by the Rising Star game.
Since May, I have been creating a playlist to keep track of the latest songs I have discussed in my posts. This will help me keep track of the songs I have used so I dont end up repeating them. The last song I talked about in my last post is: Adult Education from the artists Daryl Hall and John Oates.
So fresh, so clean: Outkast
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Adult Education from the iconic rapper Outkast.
This isn't the first time, and it certainly won't be the last, that I've brought up one of the genres I've enjoyed the most in recent years. I'm talking about hip-hop, which I listened to throughout my teenage years thanks to the influence of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and its multiplayer mode.
I became a fan after watching a documentary-style film about the history of the rap group N.W.A. That led me to take a greater interest in the history of artists in the genre and discover many more alternative artists than the usual well-known ones such as Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eminem. That led me to discover other artists with good music, such as Ludacris, Eric B, Rakim, Nas, Mc Eith, and the one I've selected for today: Outkast.
If I'm not mistaken, all the artists I've mentioned except Outkast and Ludacris are from the West Coast or East Coast, as there aren't that many artists from the North or South. The southern United States went a long time without any major artists, until these two took off and brought a new style of rap.
I've known Outkast for a few years, mainly because of songs like Hey Ya! and Ms. Jackson, which is a song I've been listening to a lot in recent weeks. But the song I've decided to bring today, I discovered thanks to it being released as a goal song for Rocket League, and I ended up liking it enough to buy it in-game and add it to my Spotify favorites.
Outkast is a hip-hop duo consisting of André 3000 and Big Boi. It was formed in the early 1990s, when the rap scene was dominated by the West Coast and East Coast, and the South wasn't even in the equation. In 1994, they debuted with their first album, titled Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (if I spelled it right), which was quite well received locally but failed to take off in other regions of the United States.
Their real success came two years later when they released the iconic album Aliens. This album featured several hits such as Aliens, Two Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac), Jazzy Belle, Elevators (Me & You), and Millenium. With this album, they achieved the recognition that Southern rap had not yet obtained, positioning themselves as one of the most important duos in the industry.
A few years later, the duo released the album Stankonia, which featured hits such as Ms. Jackson, Gasoline Dreams, Spaghetti Junction, Bombs Over Baghdad, and the one I have selected for my post today: So Fresh, So Clean.
