Survival of Serena sculpture

in StreetArt7 days ago

Here are the last of the photos I have from the Michigan Avenue art exhibit by Carol Feuerman's Monuments of Stillness.
Even though 10 sculptures were officially promised for the outdoor exhibition, only eight were actually unveiled on Michigan Avenue on opening day.
One sculpture got held up during shipping and didn't make it to Chicago in time for the opening of the exhibit
The exhibition is sponsored by Hilton Contemporary gallery on Wells Street and one was put on temporary display there before being moved out to join the rest of the lineup.

I don't have photos of either of those yet.

Survival of Serena

Feuerman crafts these sculptures using resin, fiberglass, and oil paint to create lifelike skin tones, textures, and faux water droplets that mimic the look of a swimmer fresh out of the water.
The swim cap is embellished with thousands of Swarovski crystals to catch the light outdoors.
Her swimmers generally symbolize peace, resilience, balance.

This sculpture is titled The Thinker, 21st Century.
It is a painted bronze piece featuring a 24k gold leaf swim cap.

You can spot the historic Fourth Presbyterian Church and Water Tower Place in the background.

Feuerman's public art installations have
been exhibited in New York City, Miami, and Venice.

The detail on the swimming cap is excellent; this hyperrealistic art is truly impressive.

It was interesting to learn about the exhibition of this collection of statues.

By the way, how is the weather situation with the Canadian wildfires?

The wind changed and we could actually see individual clouds in the sky but now the smoke is coming back. I just ordered an upgraded air filter for in the house. I have a feeling it will be needed.

Well, let's hope the fires are brought under control and the situation improves soon.

Winds are supposed to become southerly. That will change the flow of the smoke.

South? Wait a minute; if Canada is further north and the wind blows south, wouldn't that mean the smoke from the wildfires will return to the northern states of the United States?

If that's the case, then it's bad news.

The winds will becoming from the south and blowing towards the north.

The areas with the fires that were affecting us got a day of rain yesterday! Yay!

It will be good if the rain helps to control the fires a little.

Thank you for your advice 😀🙏

I'm looking forward to seeing you do well here!

Thank you, I will do my best. 😀

I'm still amazed at how real they look.

Beautiful!

Great capture my dear ❤️🌹

Awesome artworks. 👍💯✨ Very beautiful. Thank you very much for sharing.

Love that sparkling swim cap. So elegant. Like from a different age. I also like the Thinker. The sculptures in this series seem to fall in two groups. The black and gold one and the super realistic ones. Both styles are very effective.

This is the first time I've heard this artist's name, and the hyperrealism of her sculptures has amazed me. Thank you for introducing us to this artist and her art. These are the first hyperrealistic sculptures I've seen.

Ohh , la factura de esas esculturas es sencillamente impresionante. Saludos buen día ti !

As I said in the Weekly StreetArt, so beautiful and realistic sculptures. Very talented artist. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a lovely weekend
