This is my post for #freewriters 3004 prompt badly weak bond hosted by mariannewest
On the last day we had ice, and the temperature had dropped to 24F. My husband found this little Cuban tree frog in the yard. It was covered in ice, but it moved one leg. He put it in a dish and brought it into the house. I told him I once saw a documentary where frogs can freeze, and when they thaw, they can come back unharmed. I guess that was a different type of frog because the little guy did not make it. They are an invasive species in Florida, but that did not matter, it was a life. We are both sad about losing it.

I am also sad about the damage to all of my plants that I could not bring under shelter. Even though I covered them, the cold got to them. My cheeries jubilee, night blooming jasmine, and small avacado tree are all suffering. The pineapples that are planted in the ground still look good.

The mango tree was in full bloom, there was no way to cover it, and after this I doubt if we will have any mangos this summer.

I am so glad I was able to put the plants that I care the most about inside and did not try to cover them. It would be too many pictures if I took one of every plant in my yard that has severe cold damage. I do not think they will die, but it will take time before they grow back.

The areca palms are a business plant, I have a weak bond with them. We would have sold most of them this Spring, but now it will take another year before they can be sold.

Whatever this little wildflower is, it did not freeze, they still look just like this picture I took before the freeze.

I wondered what the wild rabbits would have to eat after the freeze, but God looks out for them. Rudy likes this flat leafed plant. It is not dandalions, in the Spring it gets a single stem with a white flower, it looks almost like camomile.

The cold also did not kill off the frog weed. Rudy only eats the youngest ones. There is also a little grass that it did not kill, so the bunnies have something to eat. I bet they wish this old woman would stop cutting it, but Rudy needs to eat, too.
Tomorrow night we are to get another cold front, it is to be in the upper 30s, should I believe them?
