The Carlton Football Club was one of the more popular clubs back in the glory years of the Victorian football league before it went national. They still are today, but back then, they had the best players ever called Alex Jesaulenko.
Mr Jesaulenko was born in Austria to Ukrainian and Russian parents who emigrated to Australia after World War 11
He is most famous for taking a mark or catching the ball in spectacular fashion during the 1970, which was later voted mark of the year and century!
Carlton won the premiership in 1970 but on finish 7th in 1974 when these cards were produced. His card is the most valuable in the set at about $25Aud.
Maybe one day I should try and sell it and get a bit more hivepower as I don't see much future on old football cards, but they do bring back some good memories.
