Environmental Sanitation Saturday || IAmAliveChallenge #217 || IAmAliveAndThriving || 28-02-2026
Today is the last Saturday, and the last day in the month of February which is the shortest month with 28 days since it is not a leap year.
The Akwa Ibom State environmental sanitation law stipulate that every last Saturday in the month will be sanitation day which will commence from 7am to 10am before movement of persons and vehicular activities resumes. Of course this practice is not only in Akwa Ibom State but cut across other states in the federation.
Having been announced by the ministry of environment within the week that today being last Saturday in the month, environmental sanitation to keep the state clean and tidy will be observed, the community were I reside have equally sound out the announcement using the local method of town cryer to inform the residence about the cleaning exercise, hence, individual were ask to come out with their machetes and brooms to clean a particular street from beginning to end, while individual environments is equally not neglected.
I have joined hand in cooperation with others to cut and clear the busses along the street leaving it clean and neat to the admiration of everyone.
Even though the community do not impose any levy on anyone who violates the order by going out, entrance into the community are partially blocked while still open to persons to pass.
In fact the exercise gave me the opportunity to engage myself in fitness activity that helps to burn my calories while sweating out some feverish storage in the system. I looked forward to the next one comes last Saturday of March 2026.
