Life at sea is beautiful; you can be in contact with the most tranquil part of nature. Ali has spent most of her life at sea, but she's not a fisherwoman; she's a guitarist and singer. What's a guitarist doing in the middle of the ocean? Well, there's an explanation: she works on a cruise ship. On the cruise ship, there's an area dedicated to entertainment, a complete stage for shows and for the ship's band to play every night for the guests and crew.

Ali knows this stage like the back of her hand, as she's more than used to playing on it. She's played there for thousands of passengers over the years, perhaps even millions, because a new cruise ship sets sail every three days, and while the crew changes, she continues because she's part of the ship's permanent entertainment team.

La vida en el mar es de lo más bonita, puedes estar en contacto con la parte más tranquila de la naturaleza. Ali ha pasado la mayor parte de su vida en el mar, pero ella no es pescadora, es guitarrista y cantante. ¿Qué hace una guitarrista en medio del mar? Pues eso tiene una explicación, ella trabaja en un crucero. En el crucero hay un área dedicada para el entretenimiento, es un escenario completo para hacer espectáculos y para que el grupo musical del crucero pueda tocar todas las noches para los clientes y tripulantes.

Ali se conoce este escenario como la palma de su mano, pues está más que acostumbrada a tocar encima de el. Ahí ha tocado para miles de tripulantes a lo largo del tiempo, quizás hasta millones porque cada 3 días empieza un crucero nuevo y mientras los tripulantes cambiar ella continua porque es parte del equipo fijo de entretenimiento del barco.

When she was offered a job on the ship as a guitarist, she saw it as the opportunity of a lifetime; perhaps it was what she had always longed for. She could make a living from it. Besides, life at sea seemed wonderful to her. Since the shows were at night, she could spend the day in her cabin enjoying the views and eating the ship's delicious food. Not even in her wildest dreams could she have imagined such a beautiful life.

For a long time, she thoroughly enjoyed everything the cruises offered: the views, being able to disembark at each stop like any other tourist and explore everything for free. And feeling the applause of the audience after each song on stage was incredibly rewarding. There was nothing more she could have wished for; she was in her element.

Cuando ella estudio música hace mucho tiempo su sueño era poder algún día vivir de ella y de lo que ganara mediante ella. Es decir vivir de lo que estudiaste, el sueño de cualquier estudiante. Ni en sus mejores sueño podía imaginar esa vida tan bella.

Por largo tiempo disfrutó al máximo de todo lo que ofrecían los cruceros, las vistas, podía bajarse en cada parada como si fuera una turista más y gratis conocer todo. Y sentir los aplausos de la gente luego de cada canción en el escenario era muy gratificante. No había nada más que pudiera desear, estaba en su sitio.

Her opinion of this dream life began to slowly change as she witnessed the most terrible aspects of it all. Her initial dream was to be a guitarist and make a living from it, and that dream had already come true. But music isn't just about money or being able to live off it. She lacked several of those things, as she was only known as a guitarist on the cruise ship.

She had never released a song, so she hadn't made her mark. Moreover, no one knew her, even though millions had listened to her year after year. That's because her musical world was confined to the walls of that stage on the ship; she couldn't reach her full potential as a guitarist or build a reputation there.

Su opinión acerca de esta vida de ensueño empezó a cambiar poco a poco, según se fue viendo de la parte más terrible de todo esto. Su sueño inicial era ser guitarrista y vivir de eso, y ya se había cumplido. Pero la música no es solo dinero, o poder vivir de ella. También está implicado poder sentirte realizado, que aportas tu grano de arena musical mundial, y que logras tener un nombre en los libros de la historia musical. Ella no tenía varias de esas cosas, pues solo era conocida como guitarrista dentro del crucero.

No había nunca lanzado una canción, así que no había dejado su grano de arena, por otra parte, nadie la conocía a pesar de que millones la habían escuchado año tras año. Making this decision was the hardest thing she had ever done, but seeing how necessary it was, she took the risk and invested all her hope that this new life as a guitarist would bring her stability and finally help her feel fulfilled. After leaving the cruise ship, she began working as a soloist. Now she was free, but the most difficult part was yet to come: returning to her dream. With her strength, she was sure she would succeed.

Al irse dando cuenta de esto cada vez se sentía más vacía, más insatisfecha. Ya no se sentía feliz como antes, y menos ya le parecía una vida de ensueño, simplemente no le bastaba vivir de la música o tener buenas vistas. Aquello se había convertido sin saber en una prisión paraíso. Y tenía muchas ganas de escapar. Pero escapar no era coser y cantar. Tenía que dejar su trabajo seguro, y sobre todo bien pagado. Una vez se fuera no había forma de volver, pues había 100 más incautos como una vez lo fue ella para poder entrar.

Tomar esta decisión fue lo más difícil que jamás haya hecho, pero viendo lo necesaria que era se arriesgó e invirtió toda su esperanza en que esta nueva vida como guitarrista le diera estabilidad en su vida y le ayudara a ahora si sentirse realizada. Al dejar el crucero empezó a trabajar como solista. Ahora era libre, pero falta la parte más complicada, volver a vivir en su sueño, con lo fuerte que es seguro que lo logra.
