What's your opinion on marriage?
Marriage is a beautiful union between a man and a woman who have agreed to spend their lives together, no matter what the future may bring, be it happiness or challenges. For marriage to work, both parties must be committed to each other and be rooted in love, trust, and mutual respect. Marriage is ordained by God; it's a sacred bond that calls for dedication and intentional effort.
Marriage is about two imperfect individuals coming together with a willingness to grow together, people willing to compromise and sacrifice if it must work out. Selflessness becomes a cornerstone in the marriage. Marriage is a journey of growth; it is a place where both individuals are willing to learn from each other continuously and strive to become better versions of themselves. Marriage is sweet if you married right.
Do you think it's still something people aspire to experience in their lives?
I don't know about other places, but I do know that in my country, marriage holds a deep significance meaning for many people, and the desire to get married simply goes beyond people following the trends in the society. While it’s true that there are some set of people that are usually influenced by the fact that others around them are getting married, but for some they aspire to get married so that they will have someone they can truly call their own, a partner with whom they can share their life, their dreams, and their struggles.
People get married to fulfill their human need for love and companionship. People desire to get married because they yearn to find that one person that truly understands them, someone that accepts them willingly and unconditionally and can stand by them through life’s ups and downs. People desire to get married because they yearn for the intimacy and connection that only comes with sharing their days with someone who genuinely cares for them. Marriage isn't just about bearing Mrs. or Mr.; it’s about experiencing the profound bond of living together, building a life together, and growing old together.
Do you think it has the same meaning, or do you think it's changed, and why?
Just because our world continues to evolve doesn’t mean that the true essence of marriage has really changed; instead, I think what has really changed is people’s perspective; people now see marriage differently. We now live in a "woke" society where some set of people believe that marriage is a form of restriction, while some view submission to their spouse as a sign of weakness or a slave mentality. People no longer have value and respect for marriage; people walk into it with their selfish interests in mind. No wonder the rate of divorce keeps getting higher every time.
