My after service plans

in Hive Learners21 hours ago

Greetings!

One thing is that, there's always a time for everything under the planet earth. According to the scripture, there's a time to be born and a time to die. So also, it's the same thing for us, most especially the one who gets employed to one day be retired.

For someone like me, who's a civil servant, the first thing I got to know after collecting my appointment letter was my retirement date which if I should look at very well is still long, but to me, the time is already ticking.

Having said so much about life and retirement, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt which is all about, “retirement plans.”

To start with, I would say that, I have seen people retiring from active service without any concrete plans and also, I have seen another set of people with concrete plans as well.

As to those who didn't have any plan for their retirement, they were left to suffer after retirement. Although some of them invested in their children, not all enjoy their investment on their children while some greatly benefited from the investment on their children as their children are really taking good care of them.

For those that are not enjoying the same, it's not actually their fault nor that of their children but because of the lack of jobs for the children.

My parents are among those who have not really enjoyed their investment in us, if not for the government job that I got recently that's making it possible to send stipends to them.

However, there's this man who I once worked for. He was a civil servant and he got to the peak of his career as a level 17 grade 9 officer in the public service. This man even retired as a permanent secretary, but he didn't even let that blindfolded him as he was able to invest his money in doing business such as real estate, property development and so on.

Also, this man also invested in the stock exchange and all these investments later paid off for him in the long run after his retirement.

As if that's not enough, this man equally invested in his children, but he didn't rely on them as his income on all his investments later made him to be active after his active service with the government.

I wouldn't have known this much about the man, but because of my closeness with him, I was able to know all these and it's since then that I made up my mind to follow in his footsteps whenever I have such opportunities that he had.

Now that I'm working with the government, I have already started my plans which were in accordance with what the man did. Although it's not yielding well for me now as I have just started, but I'm very sure that before the end of my active service with the government, my story would not only be similar to that of my former boss, but would be of a greater success to his as my investments would be bringing to me multiple folds and streams of income.

This is my entry to week 206, episode 01 of the weekly Featured contest in the Hive Learners community.

Thanks for reading.

I find it interesting how you've already started acting early, even knowing that results take time. Long-term planning requires discipline, and you're demonstrating that you're aware of this.

Investing wisely is indeed a great way to prepare for retirement.

I'm already retired :)
