I can think of the following as a quick (and likely incomplete) summary of the advantages regarding earnings on Hive and on #Nostr. 🤓

Hive 🐝

  1. content rewards (for both authors and curators) come from HIVE token inflation, not from one's own wallet
  2. decentralized wallet; no custodians of one's tokens
  3. practically zero fees transferring HIVE tokens to another Hive account
  4. can easily change private keys if exposed; Hive Power and HIVE/HBD in Savings are protected

Nostr 🐦

  1. zaps are credited instantly at the recipient's LN wallet
  2. sats on the recipient's wallet can be sent or withdrawn anytime to another LN wallet

That's a nice run down, and it definitely look like Hive wins. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I think that someone who likes a "true coin" that isn't just a token (not necessarily a "Bitcoin maxi") and/or does not like flagging though would still very likely flock to #Nostr though despite the advantages of Hive. 🧘‍♂️🤓

See, that's a curious thing, because a coin is produced directly by the blockchain, while a token is created with certain parameters by an account, so by that definition HIVE and HBD are both coins, not tokens. All the tokens in layer 2 are truly tokens, though. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I wonder then why HIVE and HBD are called "tokens" though !INSTEAD of "coins". 🤯 #PeakD, #Ecency, and most popular Hive frontends call them "tokens". 😅

Anyway, I think that a cryptocurrency "coin" in general is something that can't be gone (whether or not it can be sent to the corresponding @null account depending on the blockchain), while "tokens" can be created arbitrarily by its issuer, and can also disappear (such as when someone converts or swaps between HIVE and HBD, where a bit of the tokens are lost for every transaction). 🤯🤯🤓

I've been asking myself that question since I got here...lol! I have no clue.

That's a new definition to me, but I understand the perspective. I'm still thinking about it, since HIVE and HBD are inherent aspects of the blockchain, so they never leave either, they just constantly reappear. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It would be really surprising if something that is supposed to be a token on #HiveEngine exists as a coin !INDEED. 🤯

Anyway, in theory, the majority of Hive Witnesses can agree to make the price of the HIVE token $0.001 each, such that every $1 worth of HBD from Hive author rewards will give an equivalent of 500 HIVE tokens and 500 Hive Power at reward payout time to the author !INDEED. 💸🤯😅

Well, they're quite different, so I don't see that situation arising any time soon.

That would be a rather interesting turn. It sounds a little bit like the present BLURT/SWAP.BLURT price. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

That only shows how important Hive Witnesses are, especially those in the Top 20. 🧘‍♂️🤓
