yeah, it has fallen out of popularity. water from these cannot be drunk so i guess that is the main reason
That makes sense, they are usually too shallow and can be contaminated with the ground water. Definitely not safe to drink!🙄

In some areas of well water, they have a high level of iron naturally in the water. That could be also what you taste.😇
