Just fews days to the 2026 valentine's Day, the federal government of Nigeria, seeing how noisy it has been on the internet to paint the nation with a lot of gifts from lovers to lovers to celebrate the day, they issued a ban of using the naira money notes to make a money boutique and anyone found guilty will be heavily prosecuted. A lot of concerns have been raised by Nigerians as to how suddenly the federal government find it as a national duty to put a ban on something like that has been a significant portray to the culture of love for the day. Frankly speaking, when I heard about the news, I was surprised, it was more like I saw it coming because last two years, the federal government also put a ban on spraying the naira notes during occasions such as marriage events, wedding events, burial events and others. Top calibres of people were prosecuted also when they were found guilty and example of them was Cubana Chief priest. With this latest law, the police and all officials concerned are already on the lookout, to catch defaulters and the law so they can prosecute them.

If you ask me if this law is okay or wrong, I would say it's very unnecessary. There are many issues in the country to tackle and banning money bouquet is never one of them. I know it's good to protect the currency of a nation as to avoiding currency abuse, this action by the government is not really necessary unless they just want to tag along with the first law of banning money spray in parties. I hope the law last long and stay in continuous enforcement not like the way some laws have been established and the government forgot they put a ban on something and even when everyone has returned to using or exploring what was initially banned.
